[opensuse] iwl4965 driver on opensuse 11.0

I've had my share of problems with this driver. It hangs, fails and routinely requires me to reboot. So I decided to collect some info and provide it to the developers (instead of just griping about it :) So I made the preparations in : http://en.opensuse.org/Tracking_down_wireless_problems Which involves turning on some trace options etc. I took the extra measure of recompiling the kernel and turning on the extra debug options for the driver. That was three days ago and the driver's been solid ever since.... So if you are having similar problems... just turn on debug and put up with slightly bloated logs! [opensuse] 10.2 no RAID to 11.0 RAID 1

Hi all, I have recently had a failure of a HDD, after a backup thankfully(if its any good). I have decided to implement software RAID 1(mirroring) onto a second drive of the same size as opposed to going the costly option of RAID 5 or via a DROBO. I see 11.0 has an option under the partitioner in YAST for RAID and I am wondering if thee 11.0 install will allow me to create the RAID array and set it up if it detects two drives of the same size and with identical partitions? [opensuse] pptp NetworkManager

Dear list, i'm using openSUSE 11.0 and I need pptp vpn connection. NetworkManager is 0.7. The repositories don't include pptp plugin for nm. Does anybody know where to get it or how to build it. You can use the net install CD to install from another computer or IIRC, an existing partition on the target system. I often use the net install method. [opensuse] Are the repositories healthy??

Hi list, some days ago I also stumbled with some errors related to accessing some repositories. It might have been the Google one, I can't remember now... Today, just 10 min ago, I wanted to check for updates using "yast2 sw_single" and the following error message popped up: -- There was an error in the repository initialization. Valid metadata not found at specified URL(s) History: - SKIP reqest: User-requested skipping of a file - File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium 'http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/SuSE/11.0/'-- So, as this is the second repository affected I'm wondering if you people are suffering the same "symptoms" maybe with the same repository as me (VideloLAN) or with others... I hope it's just a temporary problem and gets fixed automagically the same way it happened to the Google repository some days ago... Comments?? [opensuse] gdm greeter changes (added user list) - legal question

I modified the default suse gdm greeter. Since I use the default suse style and I needed a greeter with user list I added one to the GDM-SuSE theme. Now I think that I could share it e.g. upload it to art.gnome.org. The original theme includes a novell Logo although it isn't used (I think the same theme will be used within sled as well). Do I need to remove it before I share the theme? I'm thinking of trade marks. The theme includes only a link to the AUTHORS and COPYRIGHT credits. If I share do I have to include these files? Do I add my Name to the AUTHORS file or to the top of COPYRIGHT after "Novell, Inc.", too? The content itself - I guess - is licensed under the terms of GPL? Do you I have sent the mail at the end of each post and it returns a did not deliver message. How do I get off of the list?
