[opensuse] 10.3 No java in FireFox after update to 3.0

Listmates: For some reason, FF has not java support after update to version 3.0. Here is an example link: http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=SHV&product=N0R&overlay=11101111&loo… Is there something else that should be installed to make java in FF work like it used to? [opensuse] Problem with List

Yesterday I installed 11.0. The installation went very well. However, since then I haven't been receiving any messages from this list. I was subscribed with my comcast email address and it had worked fine until yesterday. I've subscribed from my gmail account so receive from the list, but I don't usually use this account and would prefer to have the list go to the comcast account. Also, I can't seem to send via the gmail account do to the html rule, so I'm trying to send from the comcast account.I would greatly appreciate any hints to solve this problem! Hi all and thank you for what you do. I am posting here about a problem i am just noticing on a one year old 10.2 - x86-64 opensuse daily sendmail segfaults notifications in my /var/log/messsages Jun 18 06:03:35 server kernel: sendmail[20460]: segfault at 0000555554000000 rip 00002b41811c5f03 rsp 00007fff2b0c3980 error 4 It happens actually about 1 or 2 times a day on a loaded and working fine server (as it seems to be at last). The sendmail is the standard sendmail-8.13.8-22 rpm I am noticing same issue with a self compiled imapd. Does anyone have an idea where to look for ? [opensuse] OpenSUSE 11 and Nvidia on Dell laptop

I have a Dell Latitude D820 laptop that ran fine with OpenSuse 10.3. I did a fresh install of OpenSuse 11, and everything seemed to be okay. I am not sure why it chose to install the PAE kernel, but that's neither here nor there, really. I got it up and running, and added the Nvidia repository via Yast's tool, checking the box in Community Repositories. After installation, X won't run. It tells me that it can't find any displays: (II) Setting vga for screen 0. [opensuse] Burning DVDs in 10.3/Gnome

Hi all, Until recently, I've been using an old SuSE (9.x) and K3B to burn CDs/DVDs (because my laptop, with newer releases of OpenSUSE had a dead burner. Now that I've bought a working external drive for my laptop, I'm trying to find my way around the Gnome burning tools. I find two tools. One pops up by default when I put a blank disk in the drive. It seems to copy directory/file structures, but doesn't seem to have a way to burn an ISO, and doesn't seem to offer obvious "options" control (for things like multisession, compatibility levels, or even verify after write). But it works, and it seems to work with DVD/RW which is nice. The other tool is brasero. This seems to offer more control, more options, and generally "feels" like it might be the better choice. However, I _think_ it doesn't handle DVD/RW. At least, my attempt to burn a rewritable disk so far has simply resulted in the disk being ejected with a complaint that the disk isn't big enough (not true :) Can anyone tell me if brasero should be able to do rewritable disks, if so, what am I missing? Is there an options window for the "built-in" burner? Can it do things like verification? Any other thoughts, observations, or tools I failed to find? 1. How do you add apps to the taskbar in KDE4? I tried dragging but as soon as you click on the menu entry it launches. I tried to right click on the menu entry to get the popup that was in use in 3.x but that only launches the app as well. If I right click on the taskbar I only have the option of adding a widget ( whoopee ). [opensuse] Anyone know if General Release of 11.0 fixes wireless problems?

I have a Lenovo T61. While I have it working with the 4965 wireless card, I'm also aware that I have to have the right drivers installed in order for it to work. Has anyone tried the general release with a T61 wireless card yet? [opensuse] Upgrading openSUSE 10.3 installed on encrypted partition

I am trying to upgrade openSUSE 10.3 installed on encrypted partition to 11.0 by booting from openSUSE 11 DVD and using the provided update function, but cannot make installer recognize and mount old root [1]. SITUATION I have installed openSUSE 10.3 according to (nearly exactly as in) this guide http://en.opensuse.org/Encrypted_Root_File_System_with_SUSE_HOWTO and would like to upgrade it to openSUSE 11.0 (keeping everything encrypted as it is). From what I understand a "live upgrade" (on working system) is not possible. I have backups of all important data stored on this computer but would like to avoid "fresh install" and going through the whole process of encrypting again. Current (relevant) partitions on my disk are: /dev/sda5 /boot (not encrypted) /dev/sda6 swap (encrypted) /dev/sda7 /root (encrypted) /dev/sda8 /home (encrypted) FAILURE When the installer runs everything works fine up to the moment, when I am supposed to select the root partition. Automatic detection returns nothing and selecting /dev/sda7 (after ticking "Show All Partitions") leads to errors: "No installed system that can be upgraded with this product was found on the selected partition" "Partitions could not be mounted. Check the log file /var/log/YaST2/y2log." [2] "Error Failed to mount target system" WHAT I HAVE ALREADY DONE I managed to switch from graphic installer to CLI [3], load necessary (I suppose) kernel modules [4], and access encrypted partitions (including old root). Encrypted partitions are in /dev/mapper/ and I can mount them with any mountpoint. Unfortunately, the encrypted root (old root) partition is not visible to the installer, whether mounted (/mnt/root) or just opened (meaning only in /dev/mapper/root). I have also tried mounting old root in the /oldroot directory of the system loaded from DVD, but graphic installer still tries to do the mounting by itself and returns errors. "No installed system that can be upgraded with this product was found on the selected partition" "No fstab found" "Cannot unmount partition /mnt/ It is currently in use. If the partition stays mounted, the data may be lost. Unmount the partition manually or restart the computer." "Error Failed to mount target system" How can I make the installer use the encrypted partition and recognize it as the / partition of the system to be upgraded? I am looking for help with this particular problem, but a more general question is: what is the simplest and safest way to perform the upgrade in this situation? I am rather a newbie to Linux, so, please, if it's not a problem, write full commands or refer me to a good source. It is also my first post here -- hello :) I Hope I didn't dump too much information. [1] By old root I mean the one used when not booting from DVD, but normally using the computer. [2] This log is huge, but I will provide a copy, if one is necessary. [3] Command line that can be accessed by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F2 during installation. [opensuse] KDE4-migrate command.

Hi All I've decided to change over to KDE4 on my main machine at home, rather than just playing with it, but I have one problem - migrating the multiple email accounts, kopete settings and RSS feeds I've got set up in Kontact under KDE3. I was hoping that the kde4-migrate command would just dump the current settings across, but it doesn't seem to do much that I can see. Is there an easy way to do this migrastion, or do I have to create my 15+ email accounts manually in KDE4? I've checked and double-checked and this extremely common piece-o- software seems to be MIA in openSUSE (11.0) It does however exist in: Debian Fedora Mandriva & Ubuntu. Is this a bug or a feature?
