[opensuse] rsync question

Hello SuSE people Just got me a new WD Passport external USB haard drive. (present from my great kids) Planning on using it for backups of my several OS's. Blew away the Windoze stuff and reformatted it into 4 ext3 primary partitions. (250GB - actually 232GB) Good move? Bad move? Now the question: If I do an rsync backup of the whole OS onto one of these new partitions, (10.3 for example) will rsync preserve everything? Like partitions and folders etc,? Never used rsync before. If so, could I blow away the original OS and restore it completely to a working condition? Any good how-tos on rsync? Sorry about my ignorance. While the vast majority of participants on the openSUSE mailing lists are good citizens of those lists, we have from time to time had problems with a few individuals who seek to use the lists to derail conversations and abuse other members of the project. Last October, we banned a user going by the name of Aaron Kulkis from the lists. He has rejoined the mailing lists under several new identities, (including "Matt Archer," "Raskolnivkov Tkachuk," "Evans Garde," and "Washington Irving"). This has been brought to the board's attention, and we are investigating options to enforce the decision we made last October. In the meantime, we would like to remind others on the mailing lists to stop responding to his emails. If you see him using another alias, just send a note to opensuse+owner(a)opensuse.org. There is freedom of speech and then there is a way to get your point across in a civil manner. Let him have his list privileges, but the profanity, name-calling speaks sometimes of psychosis. [opensuse] Amarok - GStreamer- outputselect

Hi folks, Using OpenSuse 11.0 ,amarok GStreamer. How can I select a different output for my audio. My output is now directed to my onboard soundcard, thats OK. Bat sometimes I want to redirect the output to my usbheadset. How should I do that ? If there is no possibility using GStreamer how can set amarok back to xine ? It works with YUM, with Yast Software manager, with zypper from command line, but not with updater applet under KDE4. It shows that an error occured. Where is the log file what I should investigate? [opensuse] opensuse 11.0 where is make?

Folks, This may be a stupid question, but where is 'make' in opensuse 11.0 now? I have gcc/g++ and other development rpms installed and running, but I cannot find the 'make' program. Is it now moved to another rpm or is my install broken? Hi everyone, I have OpenVPN working correctly on openSUSE 10.3. ### Setup: ### -openSUSE Server side- Network (192.168.0.0/24) Default-GW - FW with OpenVPN (IP 192.168.0.1) * OpenVPN (Server net 10.8.0.0/24, inet addr:10.8.0.1 P-t-P:10.8.0.2) -openSUSE Client Network Side- Network (192.168.1.0/24) Default-GW - FW with OpenVPN (IP 192.168.1.1) * OpenVPN (Client net 10.8.0.0/24, inet addr:10.8.0.6 P-t-P:10.8.0.5) FW: SuSEfirewall2 * VPN works from both Server to Client and Client to Server. ### Test ### Ping on the client side: >From (GW2) # 192.168.1.1 ping 192.168.0.1 (GW1) PING 192.168.0.1 (192.168.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 192.168.0.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=19.1 ms i.e.: ping from 192.168.1.x --> GW 192.168.1.1 --> VPN 10.8.0.6 - 10.8.0.5 --> 10.8.0.2 - 10.8.0.1 VPN --> GW 192.168.0.1 --> Server 192.168.0.100 works. The Server OpenVPN and Client OpenVPN can ping each other. The server cannot reach the client network or machines behind it at all. Clients can reach the Server GW1 (192.168.0.1) on the network (192.168.0.0/24), but none of the other Servers on the same subnet. I've added these IP Tables part on the server for the tun0 interfaces on both Server and Client: (/etc/sysconfig/scripts/SuSEfirewall2-custom) # Allow TUN interface connections to OpenVPN server iptables -A INPUT -i tun+ -j ACCEPT # Allow TUN interface connections to be forwarded through other interfaces iptables -A FORWARD -i tun+ -j ACCEPT # Allow TAP interface connections to OpenVPN server iptables -A INPUT -i tap+ -j ACCEPT # Allow TAP interface connections to be forwarded through other interfaces iptables -A FORWARD -i tap+ -j ACCEPT (from: http://openvpn.net/faq.html#firewall) I've read the OpenVPN documents, but something is still missing. This seems to be a SuSEfirewall2 config problem. Any insights are welcome. Hi, I'm playing with KIWI-LTSP and successfully setup LTSP client to boot from PXE Boot but I got a weird resolution (640X480) in some LTSP cient.
