[opensuse] Problem getting printing to work in OpenOffice

Not too long ago a similar question was asked and an answer given. I have searched the Suse database/site and mailing list(s), including the OpenOffice site, but cannot find the answer - obviously I am not looking in the right places nor using the right search words. I am using Suse 10.2 (and 10.3 on a test bed) but cannot get OO (everything upgraded to the latest versions) to print out a document to an IBM/Lexmark 4039 12R Plus laser printer. If I use Kwrite, to create a document and then print it, the printing is successfully done in seconds. Can anyone, please, either tell me what the "fix" is to get OO to print out a document or point me to the location where I can get the answer? (I have a couple of documents which need to be printed out rather quickly (but not as a matter of "life or death") so if someone can provide a quick answer I would be most grateful.) Ciao. [opensuse] Problems with cgi-scripts, apache2 on suse 10.3

I have been trying for a week to get apache to recognize a cgi script and execute it. The script is part of a distributed package, so I know it is my server configuration that is the issue. Basically, I just get a browser prompt asking me what to do with "login.cgi". I would greatly appreciate any help with this. I am running out of ideas, and I know it is a simple fix. The folder is in public_html/cgi-bin/. [opensuse] 32bit libs in 64bit openSuse 10.3 (libasound2)

Hi! I have had some problem with sound but upgrading to new alsa drivers (16rc1) solved it. So I now have all the 64bit alsa libs in version 16rc1. Unfortunately I also need libasound2 in the 32bit version for Skype to work. But 32bit version of the lib for x86_64 is only available ver 1.0.14. I could try compiling it from source but I am not sure how to force 32bit arch (and I suppose I would need some more 32bit libs) and will it not conflict with the version installed from rpm? I would ideally uninstall the 32bit version and install manually from source but I seem to have several other packets that depend on it. What's the best approach? [opensuse] Problems with X

Hi, after some update this morning (not automated, initialized by myself) my X do not work... I can fire Sax2 and it give me my old working configuration. But after I save it and exit Sax I can not startx. When I do it in root account I get errno 104. When I do it in my account I get errno 111. Please, could someone point me to solution to that? If needed I will attach my log files, only please, point me what files do you need. [opensuse] Desktop focus problems in KDE

I'm having a small but annoying problem with desktop focus in KDE. I have a dual head setup, with two independent desktops (not one single desktop as many people have) so I can run full screen apps on each monitor. Each independent desktop also has 2 virtual desktops (that I switch between with Ctrl+F1 or F2 while that desktop has focus). The dual head was configured with nVidia's tools, and works quite well... with the exception of the desktop focus jumping back and forth between the two desktops. Now to the problem.... and the hard part is describing it so that everyone can understand. I will be running a full screen app on Screen2, and working in it.. for example MythTV. this Screen and Desktop has focus, and the keyboard is being used to navigate the MythTV menus. Without moving the mouse off of Screen2, the focus will suddenly jump to Screen1. I get control back to Screen2 I have to click the left mouse button on the desktop of Screen2. The mouse never left Screen2 so focus is not following the mouse cursor over to Screen1. The same can be happen with a full screen app on Screen1. I will be working on Screen1, and switching between a full screen app on Desktop1, and Desktop2, when focus will suddenly jump over to Screen2. The mouse never left Screen1. Is there any tweak I can do to correct this somewhat random behaviour? Does anyone else using dualhead with two independent desktops run into this? [opensuse] Duel Screening

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X61 with a dock. and a Samsung SynchMaster 915N 19 inch monitor. the laptop works great, but I can't get it to split the desktop across two screens. I have gone into SaX2 through YaST and my settings are: Display 1: Intel 965 MG Monitor VESA 1024x768@60 HZ Display 2: Samsung SSYNCHMASTER 1280X1024 Xinerama Multihead is selected for the Dual Head Mode, and the arangement is 2 next to 1. In this setting it simply clones the built in one (at 1024x768) onto the larger one. anyone have this working with a similar box/video card? thanks in advance, -Jesse

Greets: Following this instruction http://en.opensuse.org/VirtualBox_USB_Support I ended up with an entry in /etc/fstab as follows: none /proc/bus/usb usbfs devgid=110,devmode=664 0 0 This did not work so got on IRC and the helpfull folks suggested the following line: usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs devgid=110,devmode=664 0 0 But this does not seem to give the desired results either. So Im in the dark and clueless as to how to sort this out. Any advice would be appreciated, and yes I did reboot after each change and vbox does work perfectly other then USB support is not shown in the manager. ?? [opensuse] How can I give the password to an ssh session on the command line?

The "remote" is a router with embedded, and it is not possible to create public key pairs because it is not a shell, but one with a limited command set. I can give the user, like: ssh 1234@router but I haven't found a way in the man to give also the password, as there is for instance in ftp. I think there is something like chat ? but I'v never used it and I'm unsure how. If any one is worried about security, don't: for instance, if you use subversion with ssh access (to Novell, for instance) the password is stored in clear text in ~/.subversion/auth, and the file is world readable! (Was, rather, I changed it).
