[opensuse] Burning dvd size mismatch.

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I burnt a dvd (non iso) using this command line: growisofs -Z /dev/hdc=image Then, I compared the result: cmp /dev/hdc image and got this: cmp: EOF on /Grande/imgs/image Thus, to check whether everything was saved, I extracted the image from the dvd: nimrodel:/Grande/imgs # dd if=/dev/hdc of=dvd 9179712+0 records in 9179712+0 records out 4700012544 bytes (4.7 GB) copied, 392.888 s, 12.0 MB/s and compared the sizes: 4700000000 image 4700012544 dvd Ie, the dvd image extracted from the dvd is slightly bigger. I assume this must be some kind of end of track adjustment, but it means that the compare fails. I think I can compare doing this instead: nimrodel:/Grande/imgs # cmp --bytes=4700000000 image /dev/hdc and they match. I can extract the extra bytes: nimrodel:/Grande/imgs # dd if=dvd of=extra skip=4700 ibs=1MB 0+1 records in 24+1 records out 12544 bytes (13 kB) copied, 0.0236522 s, 530 kB/s and it is all zeroes. The slave interfaces are eth0 and eth2 (eth1 si used for another purpose). The problem is now that when eth0 is switched off, the bond0 interface doesn't reply. What hell of bonding is this??? It can't be done until MS says what "specific" parts of the kernel is violating it. And given the stupid nature of patenting system (I had some real taste of it) if MS is been clever to patent something like "Interrupt Service Routine" concept with a clever writeup such as "Reverse Feedback Hardware Interaction Method", then yes we do need to pay money to MS for all the interrupt service routines we wrote. One of my early carrier experience, when startups would try to build IP portfolio to so that the company could be sold for good money, I remember writing patent application for codes that was simply client/server under the text "Intelligent Server Agent". ( I have changed. I do no more evil :P ) So its clever MS playing tricks by the books where the equal amount of criticism should go towards the "Patent System". [opensuse] 10.1 and 10.2 won't boot install media

Hi, I have a junker "desktop notebook" ( ECS A900 Desknote or I-buddie depending on where you look online) that I am trying to load openSuse on and it immediately reboots as soon as the dvd tries to load grub. Right at the boot loader. I have made a number of attempts to modify bios settings and it still loops a reset. I have successfully installed Ubuntu on it, I have gotten it started on Fedora but openSUSE is the only on that resets on boot attempt from the media. All checksums are right, I have even tried the cd and net install iso and they all do the same thing. The "Laptop" has the following characteristics from what I know: Via 1ghz cpu (clocks in windows as a 776mhz) 256 mb ram (I was able to load 10.1 and 10.2 on a desktop with this much ram) Via/SIS video chipsets So, I was wondering if anyone might know why grub isn't playing nice, I have ruled out media, the dvd rom drive, and limited ram as I have it running Ubuntu. I was just hoping to find some obscure solution that would let me use my distro of choice. I think the old Suse 10.0 will load, but if I can get the latest on that would be best... any ideas other than simply scrapping the whole thing? [opensuse] Start http at boot time

Hi there, I have a problem with the initialization at boot time of my http daemon. I put on the: /etc/init.d/rc5.d/S10httpd -> /opt/http-2.2.4/bin/apachectl The S10httpd is dinamically link to the apachectl. The problem is that it doesn't start the http daemon when I do a restart of the Linux box. Any help would be apretiated. [opensuse] Partition Resizing

I've been running OpenSuse 10.1 and subsequently 10.2 on a dual boot machine for some time now quite successfully. I'd like to ditch the Windows partition(s) altogether given that it hasn't been used for over 6 months and I can do everything I need to on OpenSuse. Is it possible to simply remove the Window partitions and reallocate to OpenSuse? Partition info: /dev/hda Disk 37.2G /dev/hda1 HPFS/NTFS 35G 18G 18G 50% /windows/C /dev/hdb Disk 74.5G /dev/hdb1 HPFS/NTFS 29G 25G 3.5G 88% /windows/D /dev/hdb2 Extended 33.3G /dev/hdb6 Linux Native 13G 8.6G 4.2G 68% / /dev/hdb7 Linux Native 19G 17G 2.3G 89% /home Ideally I would like to reallocate /dev/hdb1 to /dev/hdb2 then /dev/hdb7 Is this possible to do without loosing my / and /home data and if so which would be the most suitable tool. The Yast2 partition tool will not for example allow me to edit /dev/hdb2.

Not sure if that would help really. Have you >tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it? I don't see KNetworkManager as a selection in the drop down menu as a command. How do I uninstall the driver? I know how to install it.
