[opensuse] how to turn off screen blanking

I have gone in to configure kdesktop, selected display and disabled display power management However the monitor still blanks after a few minutes. [opensuse] HowTo get rid of SuSe 10.2 a residual burden on my hard drive

When I decided to upgrade SuSE I first install 10.2 and realized it took a lot of time to fix the many deficiencies and get it to a point where I could start working on my project. So I installed 10.3 and at installation time I chose "New Installation" believing this would wipe out the hard drive so erasing 10.2 and store and install 10.3. In short, I wished to get rid of 10.2. But apparently I did not achieve my goal. In fact 10.3 is now up & running but if I click on the SuSE menu item "leave -> Start Operating System" I get the following 3 choices: 1) Start 'openSuSE 10.3- 2.6.22.12-0.1' (current) 2) Start 'Failsafe -- openSuSE 10.3 ....' 3) Start 'openSuSE 10.2 - 2.6-18.8-0.7 (/dev/sda2)' It looks like 10.2 is still there and occupies a portion of my hard drive. How can I get rid of 10.2 WITHOUT REINSTALLING 10.3 or damaging anything already working on 10.3? I'd like all the available disk space to be devoted to 10.3. Hi list, I have a question: I used VMware 6.0.0 version on my SLED previously. I had used it on openSUSE 10.2 as well... I have recently upgraded to openSUSE 10.3 . The same version is not installing here. I have downloaded the version 6.0.2 from the vmware website. My question is: if i directly, install VMware workstation 6.0.2, do I need to change the serial number as it is not accepting the old one!!? If yes then what link should I follow? I have not found any links that would say so. Hi all Is there (or will be) a search feature in http://software.opensuse.org/search/ which permits a search-by-filename? Something like one in http://rpm.pbone.net/. [opensuse] Compiz does not autostart

I did a recent update to my open suse 10.3. I am using the nvidia drivers with compiz. It seems that compiz no longer autostart as before. I have to start the compiz manager manually each time. Don't ask me what got updated, I tried to look for the details and nothing showed up. in both Yast update and the auto update (zypper). [opensuse] sound volume control not working as wanted

Hello, My brand new acer 9410z works beautifully under openSUSE 10.3, mostly out of the box and even the wifi with some tweak, but the sound control is curious. I use kde and kmix, as ever. Now the control displayed by kmix is not working. That is it don't reduce or raise the sound. It's labelled "pc speaker" in the complete mixer windows and in this windows only the pcm and ront cursor have an effect.
