[opensuse] Looking for nice web banner

I'm looking for a nice web banner to place on my sites. I'd like a 468x60 banner. I had one for 9.1 that I ran for six months: http://www.filesite.org/images/91_banner.gif However, that is WAY out of date. I've looked here: http://en.opensuse.org/Buttons and can't find anything. [opensuse] Why is there no user setup?

Why is with the openSUSE 1-CD GNOME disk, is there no user setup? I heard this on the Linux Action Show Podcast, and tried it out myself, and it looks true! [opensuse] TeX/LaTeX excutables not found

Hi, I ran into a strange issue on OpenSUSE 10.3. The differen LaTex executables aren't found on my system evn though they are installed. which pdflatex gives me: which: no pdftex in (/opt/kde3/bin:/home/christoph/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/games:/usr/lib/mit/bin:/usr/lib/mit/sbin:/usr/lib/qt3/bin) but ll /usr/bin|grep pdflatex shows me: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 36 20. Okt 01:59 pdflatex -> ../lib/texmf/bin/i586-linux/pdflatex As a result, none of the TeX/LaTeX related apps work. Any idea how to solve the issue? [opensuse] eth0 mac and SuSEfirewall2

I copied my /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall 2 script from a working 10.2 installation to a new installation of 10.3, ran rcSuSEfirewall2 restart and guess what? It didn't work. Is there any easy way to translate the mac addresses you have in 10.2 to the eth0, eth1, eth2 stuff you seem to have to have in 10.3? (yeah ok, you can work it out but J*s, what a pain!) They change fro eth to mac and then back again. Or is it a secret? [opensuse] how to enable mic?

On my HP NW4480 laptop I don't seem to be able to use the microphone. On my last laptop (a "whitebox" asus mboard unit) SLED found the mic just fine. Now, on this much nicer unit, with nearly everything else working beautifully, when I run Skype I can't talk. I originally installed SLED, and now have done a fresh install of SLED 10 SP1 ... still no mic. Any suggestions on what to do, where to look, how to proceed? [opensuse] RPMs needed for kernel upgrade?

looking at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/HEAD/openSUSE_Factory/x86… in the hopes of getting some unrecognized hardware running. What packages there need I install, besides the source one? default? vanilla? syms? I plan on (re-) installing the NVIDIA drivers after the update, I assume it will work out as long as the source for the new kernel is installed (yes/no?) On a related note, has anyone had any issues with simply starting a kernel.org update with 'make cloneconfig; make oldconfig' ? I miss (in a way) the 2.2 & 2.4 days when I actually knew enough to configure a new kernel with everything built in and get it right without trouble. As always, TIA. [opensuse] No icons, no tray when logging into gnome: OpenSUSE 10.3

Hi, So, I just installed and configured a laptop with OpenSUSE 10.3 yesterday and it took quite a while. I installed all available updates too. Toward the end of the day I was getting ready to head out of the office when I got a notice that something had crashed in Gnome (Sadly, I didn't see what had crashed). All my desktop icons disappeared. I logged out and now when trying to log in again, I get the splash screen for the Gnome desktop then nothing. The system tray at the bottom of the screen never appears, the desktop icons never appear and no function keys do anything. Nothing. [opensuse] network interface problem

This morning I took down the server at the office for maintenance, when I brought it back up it had not networking working. I have two nics in the machine, one onboard invidia based ( asus motherboard), and one Intel 1000 nic. What I finally found was if I went into bios an disable the onboard nic then I had working network but the minute you re enable the onboard nic all networking stops working. I'm at the lost on what to do. I need two network cards for this machine. I have both of the PCI slots filled with the Intel nic an a raid card. I do have one free pcie slot. So I need a good pcie network card if anyone has a suggestion on what to buy that will work with SuSe 10.2 / 10.3. Also wondering if anyone on list using the asus m2n-e sli motherboard has had any problems with the onboard nic.
