[opensuse] Fonts Look strange on openSUSE 10.3

Hello everyone! I wanted to ask this question real quick: My fonts on openSUSE 10.3 (out of the box) look very strange and ugly compared to my fonts out of the box on 10.2. I have no idea why, and I really can't stand them. I'm using 10.2 right now, and will until I can fix this problem. [opensuse] Samba update

I am using sled sp1 and windoze domain authentication. Everytime i restart my computer, at the gdm login screen (default one from novell install) my domain is missing. I have to login as root, goto windows domain membership and browse for the domain and click finish. Then at the gdm login screen, my domain info is back i can now login as a domain user. anyone seen this before and if so, how did you fix it? So, i am wanting to update my samba and see if this fixes the problem. I don't see "samba" at download.opensuse.org/repositories. Hell all! I used gaim before and updated to pidgin 2.0.2-7.1 from mrichards HOME: on opensuse yesterday. I have noticed that there is no icon for pidgin. [opensuse] Network card does not Wake On Lan (3com 3c905-cx)?

I have a 3Com network card 3c905-CX-TXM-PCI. I have just upgraded from Opensuse 10.2 to Opensuse 10.3. In Opensuse 10.2, I was able to wake my computer (wake on lan) because I had set (in yast2 -> network devices -> network card) the module option "enable_wol=1" for my network card. In Opensuse 10.3 I cannot set such a network card option. When I go to yast2 -> network devices -> network card, select my network card ("3Com 3C905CX-TX/TX-M Fast Etherlink for PC Management NIC" is displayed), select "configure", select the "hardware" tab, I again see an "kernel module" box with left the module name ("3c59x") and right a text box called "options". However, the box is grayed out and I cannot fill it with the value "enable_wol=1". Any hints how I can do a wake on lan are very much appreciated. Please note I did not make any hardware modifications when upgrading from opensuse 10.2 to opensuse 10.3. [opensuse] KDE4 Preview - what's needed

Hello All, I have successfully installed OSS 10.3 64bit on my machine and accepted the KDE4 libs, but when I boot into the KDE4 Preview desktop, I get an ugly background and klipper with a icon with ? on it where the main menu should be. What is needed to see the KDE4 preview under 10.3 or is this it? [opensuse] Default Window Manager

Hi all, In the /etc/sysconfig editor on Yast, there is an entry for the the default window manager, mine is set to kde, can it be replaced with compiz in order to use compiz instead of kwin? which is the command i have to put in there, compiz, compiz-fusion,ccsm? ok.....sorry. I "fired" too quickly. After the kernel update and reboot, USB RAM wasn't available to the system....HAL had a problem. I rebooted again and now all is well......go figure. [opensuse] HP M1005 MFP

Hi, I have this multifunction printer working (using the foo2xqx driver). The scanner part is supported by hpljm1005, which is not yet in die sane source. I added it and recompiled the sane sources. Also created a dll.conf file with the string "hpljm1005" in it - as instructed by someone on a forum somewhere. I can scanimage now, but only as root and only if I am in the same directory as the dll.conf file? Yast has no idea of the scanner and obviously kooka (which I used in the past with my epson) does not work. Any tips, forums, readmes I can follow up on to get the scanner seen. [opensuse] no network browse after today's kernel upgrade

Hi, just upgraded 10.3 x 86 with the latest kernel: 2.6.22.9-0.4-default. Before that, I had firewall enabled, and in the allowed services I had Samba server and SSH, and in the advanced, I have enabled only TCP port 135. After the upgrade, and reboot, my login no longer works (I use Windows Domain authentication), it reports that can not reach the domain controller. Also, when I go to browse network (smb:/ in konqueror), it replies with: "Unable to find any workgroups in your local network. This might be caused by an enabled firewall." So, I edited the firewall rules, and added also: TCP 135, 138 UDP 137:138 445 Besides the weird problem in Yast firewall module, that it woud not write the changes every time, after all I succeeded, and these ports are now open. But, even with these ports open, still I can not browse the network. And I was able before the upgrade. Someone else seeing that problem, so I can file a bug report? Or any solution (besides disabling the firewall)?
