[opensuse] Suse 10.3 Updater errror

Hi, I have already installed opensuse 10.3 and its been working fine all along, updater advises me of any new updates and I apply them. However, now suddenly updater has stopped working. I get the message "Error: helper program returned: invalid xml" and no further updates are possible. I've checked the log files (both yast and zypper) however nothing obvious there. Also googled for any info on this and also nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. [opensuse] No Compiz Autostart - SuSE 10.3 no /opt/kde3/share/autostart/compiz.desktop

Listmates, I am trying to determine why compiz will not autostart. Manual start with fusion-icon is required and works fine. One thing I did notice while removing compiz last time with: rpm -e $(rpm -qa | grep compiz) fusion-icon was that compiz-manager would not uninstall due to a missing "/opt/kde3/share/autostart/compiz.desktop" Upon reinstall with 1-click, "/opt/kde3/share/autostart/compiz.desktop" is still not present. I suspect this is my autostart problem. Where can I find "/opt/kde3/share/autostart/compiz.desktop" and will installing it manually fix the autostart problem? -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. [opensuse] wlan browse

Hello :-) I'm very new regarding to WLAN... I try to configure on my brand new laptop acer 9410Z the WLAN card Broadcom 94311MCG. This card is seen by Yast, but I can't make it work. The problem may be worst because the only network I have as wifi is the very same I have as eth gigabit card, so it may conflict? However I could make the card work in windows... My router allows me only to have a wep key (no open net available). I use an Hex one. in network manager, I give the ESSID (name) jdd_home, the card is seen, I give the key, and the network manager keep asking if I want an open system or a shared key (none of the answer works though), than searching it fails isn't a "browse" capability, where I could see what wifi networks are available, at least I could know if this is a hardware problem or a software/config one!! [opensuse] compiz mouse pointer

Is there any way I can change the mouse pointer in compiz? I am using the emerald theme and my employees do not like the old fashioned looking left pointing hand that netscape used to have even though it must be a right hand pointing left. In any case, it has become a problem. 10.3 with nvidia. Thanks. [opensuse] Site does not work in openSUSE version of Firefox but OK in Mozilla version?

Hi, I have strange situation. The whole story is quite long, but briefly - bank site works correctly in Firefox under MS Windows and in Mozilla version of FF under openSUSE, but does not work in openSUSE version of FF. Full story: Officially bank only supports MS IE, so I can't ask them what's wrong. For a long time I used IE under wine to access the site. FF and konqueror could not work even if I configured them to present themselves as IE. They failed at the stage of SSL negotiation. About half a year ago they made serious re-design of the site and I decided to try it in FF again. To my surprise it worked (except some minor issues) (both under MS Windows and under openSUSE with openSUSE FF, not sure what exact version, probably 2.0.0.3). For some months I happily used FF but recently it stopped working again. I thought bank changed something again, so I did not pay attention to when exactly it happened. I think it was after update to FF 2.0.0.4 or 2.0.0.5. But then I noticed that under MS Windows it still works fine. (It was on 10.2 version). After I installed 10.3, I tried site again before adding any extensions and it still did not work. Then I decided to try Mozilla version of FF on the same system and found out that it works fine, just as Windows version. What happens is that the account page has upper line with "clickable" icons and account data and also some "notebook" type menu with clickable lines. When it works (MS Windows and Mozilla version of FF), the page is rendered once. Under openSUSE FF the page is initially drawn correctly, but after some delay it is re-drawn and this time it is distorted (no account data) and icons and tabs becomes not clickable (cursor shape is not changed on these items also). I can say for sure that it did not work in openSUSE FF 2.0.0.5 and does not work in 2.0.0.8 (latest). I tried Mozilla versions 2.0.0.7 and 2.0.0.8 and they are both OK (of course they are not really "installed" in the system. I just copied Mozilla directory under /opt/firefox, copied everything from /usr/lib/browser-plugins to /opt/firefox/plugins and explicitly run /opt/firefox/firefox. Any idea of what could be the reason of such a behavior? (Since it's bank site, I can't post exact details. But I can provide some screenshots, if needed.) [opensuse] Strange error in F-Spot

[opensuse] Games_realtime_repository returns xml error

Hi folks, I am running openSUSE 10.3 and smart as default package manager. I've added many repositories from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/. It all worked perfect since 10.1. Yesterday I made an update and installed patches and some packages. All repos xml files were in good order except games/realtime branch. I got an error message which says: error: Invalid XML file: error: /var/lib/smart/channels/Games_Strategy_Realtime%%http:__download.opensuse.org_repositories_games:_strategy:_realtime_openSUSE_10.3_repodata_repomd.xml error: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/games:/strategy:/realtime/openSUS… error: not well-formed (invalid token): line 37, column 34 I removed the channel and updated the repo information. Smart did not report any errors. I added the games/realtime branch and updated the repo information and I got the same error message which I mentioned above. I think there is a malformed repomd.xml file in the repo. Did anyone get a similar error message?
