adding KDE channel to smart

I've been looking for the repository for KDE updates. From opensuse.org it 'indicates' http://www.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1 Here is my entry in the channel list for smart [KDE] type = yast2 name = KDE Updates baseurl = http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1/ here is the response I get when I run smart update Fetching information for 'KDE Updates'... -> http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1/.../media media [ 0%] error: Failed acquiring information for 'KDE Updates': error: http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE%3A/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1/media.1/m…: Internal Server Error Could somebody please make this really simple for me and tell me precisely what I need to add to my channel list to get KDE updates? open folder with gthumb?

Hello. How can I open a folder with gthumb in an easy way? I right click in gnome, select "open with other applications", and select 'gthum', this really works, but, nautilus won't remember this, next time I right click a folder, 'gthumb' is still not there. How can I make "open with gthumb" appear in the right-click menu? Smart invalid SHA

Hi everybody, I remember seeing something similar to this on this list not too long ago, but for the life of me, I can't find it in the archive. When I try to refresh all channels in Smart I get messages like this on certain channels: Failed acquiring information for 'Latest wine packages': http://software.opensuse.org/download/Emulators%3A/Wine/SUSE_Linux_10.1/rep…: Invalid SHA (expected 327d9dff64a74c273b43b59699eeac0f9b05378b, got 3ec691e8c5017b2c12b3a7be37b346e152e4cf16) This channel will then be automatically deselected. Any pointers? Thanks Marius PS. When I first started using smart I thought it was great, and even got a few people to switch. Now I'm starting to wonder. Is anybody else getting the feeling that problems with Smart are becoming more and more numerous, or is it just me?

Low disk space notifier

Hi, SuSE 10.0 x86_64 KDE 3.5.4 release 71.1 After the latest update to this version of KDE, it started to pop-up a message box, saying that I'm running low of disk space on my home partition, asking inf I want to launch konqueror to delete some files. As for my HDD 5% free space is more than enough :), I kept saying "Cancel". After it started to be annoying, I checked the box "Do not ask again" and selected "Cancel", but it continued to ask and ask. So, I unchecked that checkbox again, but hit "OK" ... and now this is opening konqi once in a while, whenever it feels like I have to free some space :(. I left it for a couple of hours, and ended with more than 10 copies of konqi opened. Now should I disable this. I examined every possible menu/page in Control Center and YaST but looks like, I either oversee it, or it is not there at all. Security updates (CAN-2006-4339)

Hello! It seems to me that I screwed up my installations (10.0 and 10.1). For some reason I don't receive the patch(es) for the openssl vulnerability described in http://www.openssl.org/news/secadv_20060905.txt. I tried to manually search www.suse.de for available security patches, but i could not find the page where available updates were listed (in the old days, before novell bought suse, it was very easy to find :-( ) Any ideas?

Yast upgrade ?

First the message, next the URL, from where I fetch the upgrade, and at the bottom the Yast upgrade itself, and where it has cone to. All of these things are good ideas, but I'm not sure which ones other than the regrubbing are actually necessary. Apparently my troubles were due to a cabling problem that caused lots of erratic behavior. I reached that conclusion when I wiped the hard drive clean (it had always passed the Maxtor tests) and tried to install Windows in a single partition just for laughs (and Windows is of course laughable). I got a disk error after the reboot that's part of the installation process. There were actually two cables involved. All my problems had started when I moved my system to a new case, which involved removing and reattaching the IDE cable. But at the same time I moved my hard drive into one of those docking frames, and that's apparently where the problem really was. The docking frame compresses its little stub of an IDE cable, and apparently the compression introduced some kind of fault. I moved the drive to a different frame, and all of a sudden everything seems to be working flawlessly. It might have been easier to find the problem if the system malfunctioned consistently, but it didn't. In fact I was eventually able to get a full Linux system up and running; the problems with the cable manifested themselves only when I tried to get Windows into the mix. As an example: faced with an empty machine, the Windows setup invites you to create some partitions. I created 3; the first one was primary and the other two were logical. After the cable correction, I did the same thing again and got three primary partitions. (One of them was Linux boot, one was FreeDOS, and one was Windows.) Since my original system had Windows on a logical partition and the Linux boot partition at a high location -- and it all worked -- I'm inclined to think that you can actually get away with quite a lot if your cables don't do you in. :=) > Paul...is this on your HP by any chance... cause there is a better way > if you have the HP restore original software options. ?
