what is the @ in zonerecords?

Hi, I am having some trouble getting dns right at the server of an ISP. In the web-interface I see @ and * in the localname column. [SLE] Keyboard bug 10.1

I am experiencing a strange keyboard bug...it seems that the repeat rate time interval gets messed up as it repeats characters randomly...i.e: trrrrrrrrrryiiiiiiinnnnnnng tooo typpppppppeeeeeeeeeee. Anybody experiencing the same and have found a solution or anybody cares to investigate it? Getting More Current Software

Hello all! I'm a new user of SuSE Linux 10.1. I just installed it the other day and, so far, I am very happy with it. I do have one question. Some of the software that has been installed are several versions old. I'm wondering how I go about installing newer versions? For example, currently I am running KDE 3.5.1. How can I get the packages for KDE 3.5.4? Are they available? If so, what source should I include for the software updater? Currently, I have http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/suse/update/10.1 as a source. But this seems to only have patches (unless I'm missing something). I'd really like to get more up to date versions of many programs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Rick

File sharing with Windows

I have a couple of directories set up to be visible to Windows via Samba. On the Windows machine, they initially show up in the Network Drives as "Disconnected Network Drive" (under "My Computer"). (The Linux machine is booted first.) Most programs then have difficulty accessing the contents of these drives. However, if I open one of these drives under "My Computer", it is no longer disconnected and the Windows programs can access its contents just fine. Much as I'd like to say that it's all Windows's fault (being a Linux lover, of course), I can't with confidence say that. It may be some Samba weirdness. I don't know how to determine on which side of the divide the fault lies -- whether it's at bottom a Windows problem or a Linux/Samba problem. Ideas? Paul

Trouble with Wireless

Hi, I am attempting to install a Intel 2200BG Pro wireless card on an IBM R52 Thinkpad (intel centrino 1.7 Mhz 512 Mb RAM) running on SUSE 10.1 I tried following the HOWTO from SUSEWiki I removed the instances of ieee80211.h and then installed the firmware and then ieee80211 subsystem. Then while attempting to install the ipw2200 driver, I encountered the following errors. Sound card woes

Upgraded a machine from 10.0 to 10.1 yesterday where the sound card did work and now it does not. I have a Creative es1371 card that shows up in Sound Configuration list without a number assigned. It does nothing when I click delete and exits when I click Edit. How can I remove this and start over setting up the card? Any help appreciated. -- Robert

Kmail "Send to mailing list": automatic recipient

I have a Kmail folder Suse-linux-e where I keep messages from this group. I can get messages routed there automatically -- that's not a problem. But if I set that folder as current and use the "send to mailing list" function, I'd like to have the destination (suse-linux-e(a)suse.com) filled in automatically. This happened at one time in the past but it doesn't happen now. The folder properties don't seem to have anything relevant to this. Paul
