permanent smb mounts

I am trying to make a permanent smb mount point for a (non browsable) Windows share in 10.1, this used to be easy with Lineighbourhood, but I cannot see how to do it with the new 10.1 "personal settings" samba bits. Do I have to resort to hacking /etc/fstab? 10.1 RC1 to final by updating RPMs?

HI! Is it already known, if I will be able to update a 10.1 RC1 installation to 10.1 final (when available) by simply updating all changed RPMs? Thanks! Thomas

[opensuse] su not resetting PATH anymore?

Hi, in SuSE 9.0 "su" resets the PATH and then sets it to some value for root. Especially, the "." entry (that the users had) disappeared. Calling "su" in SuSE 10.1 does not reset the path anymore, and so root suddenly has "." in his path, although CWD_IN_ROOT_PATH is set to no. This is really really bad because you don't expect it. "su -l" is not a good alternative because it changes you current directory. Can I revert to the old behaviour of su? 10.1: No resume after latest kernel update

After upgrade to 2.6.12.21-0.25-bigsmp, my system doesn't resume anymore. Suspend works, resume starts, it even restores the data pages, but when control should go the reactivated kernel, it shows only the screen with the suspend messages. Any hints? hjb

( to see the pi calculation complete on your own system in a reasonable time set the scale to something smaller than 1000 ). Survey says.... With all processors pegged the entire network consumes *780 watts*. So, to put this in perspective, even with all processors pegged the entire network still consumes 5% less power than my coffee maker. Over an (8) hour day the network will consume 6.2 KwHr pegged vs 5.2 KwHr idling. The coffee maker consumes about 6.6 KwHr over that same period. Moral to the story?? Well, if I give up coffee.... Has anyone managed to install soundfonts using YaST? I'm currently trying to run Solfege but without any joy. I have a soundblaster live card. Any thoughts on how to get solfege going on SUSE 10.1 anyone? Thanks Eddie

Firewall zones

I want to configure the SuSE firewall so that communication within my LAN is uninhibited but communication outside the LAN is fully protected. Looking at the firewall configuration in Yast, I see that the external zone is protected but the internal zone is not. However, I don't see how to specify that the internal zone consists of hosts with addresses 192.168.0.x. This would seem to be a pretty common requirement. It appears that the firewall configurator can specify that an interface is external or internal, but I have only one interface (network card). It connects to the LAN and to the router; the router in turn talks to the world. It's a very common setup. Paul

Block rug from updating?

How can I set packages to NOT be updated via rug? I don't see any options in the rug man page. Also, it's set as locked in yast, so 'yast online-update' doesn't try to update it, but rug does! -- Anders Norrbring Norrbring Consulting

List of topics in /etc/sysconfig section of Yast is out of date

I have two machines running 10.0. On just one of them, probably because the installation was an update rather than from scratch, the list of topics in the left-hand pane of the Yast /etc/sysconfig window is out of date. (Under Firewall it lists personal-firewall rather than SuSEfirewall2.) How can I update that list? All my Yast packages seem to have the 10.0 version or better. Paul
