Tweaking Printer Banners

I am wanting to create a custom print banner but am having problems. First, I copy the standard banner to a new one called oracle. (These are in /usr/share/cups/banners) I want to remove the default graphics, add my own, and change the test fields a bit. However, when I select this banner in the printer config (my new one, oracle, shows up in the drop down list) it still uses the old one. Thinking this directory contains templates that are used during printer creation, I re-added my printers after making my changes to /usr/share/cups/banners/oracle and also tried a SuSEconfig for the fun of it. I can't get my workstation to use the right banner.... ugh. Anyone have any ideas? Also, is there a reference anywhere that covers all the variables that can be used in a banner? Thx, CC

Webmail and SUSE 9.1

Hi all, I have had a webserver running suse 8.1 for quite some time, and have decided that it's time to get something that is more up to date. I have installed 9.1 on another machine, and so far everything works like a champ. Web server, ftp server, mail, and so on. That's except Squirrelmail. I installed it as I had on the old machine, and ran the configure program. Went through all the steps, save the config, and thought all was well. Then from another machine on the network, I tried to log in. Imap is started, Passwords are checked and correct, but it absolutely will not log anyone in. I've played with settings until I can't think of anything else to do. In my log, I get the following. Imapd (4061) login disabled user=mike auth=mike host=localhost (127.0.0.1) Doesn't even work with root. I haven't tried it from the same machine, but that's not what I need. I know I'm missing something simple, but have run out of ideas. Hi! Again me and problems with Konqueror. I have a problem to see sites where i need a Flash player. I installed flash player from SuSE site but i had a same problem with player from Macromedia site. Also SuSE site http://www.novell.com/products/linuxprofessional/ doesn't works for me. Mitja P.S. My system: SuSE 9.3, KDE 3.4.1.

How do I get KDE back?

I recently upgraded one of my 9.2 machines to 9.3 and after some mildly painful gyrations to get the NVidia driver working, I get the twm window manager (according to `echo $WINDOWMANAGER`). I found that I can run YaST in text mode and change the default WM in the sysconfig editor to kde. Now, it starts the twm style login screen and I'm getting messages in the xconsole stating: "kernel: nvidia: unsupported module tainting kernel." "kernel: nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel." "kernel: NVRM: loading NVIDIA Linux X86 NVIDIA Kernel Module 1.0-7667 ..." After I log in, KDE starts, but I can only "End current session" from KDE - no restart or shutdown. So, what might I have screwed up that is causing this strange performance? FWIW, the nvidia driver seems to be working fine even though I get the console messages. -- Bill Lugg Milstar Software Support Peterson AFB, CO

Just installed webalizer on my system and read the man page. Started webalizer and got the message that it did not find a file named dns_cache.db This file should contain theDNS cache? Have no idea how to produce such a file. Does somebody have a sample dns_cache.db?

Amarok - Musicbrainz tagging doesn't work on ogg files

Hi all. I have been succesfully using amarok for tagging my mp3 files, but it refuses to work on .ogg. The first time i try to tag an .ogg file, it behaves as if it were generating the digital fingerprint for the song, but then it fails saying that there is no information available for that song at MusicBrainz (even for very, very well known songs!) Then, if i try to tag the file again(doesn't matter ifi try to tag that same song or another one), it fails immediately (ie. without even trying to generate the fingerprint) and states that there's no info for that file at MB. Anyone has any ideas of what could be happening? Thank you all, Anderson

9.3 slow downs :(

I've upgraded my 9.1 to 9.3 and have noticed a marked slowdown (135 messages in Evolution now takes close to 25 minutes to retrieve on DSL, konqueror requires over 1 minute to come up on the screen). I did a new install for / with reiser 3.6 (default) and maintained my /home/* with reiser 3.5. KDE is also slow to load as well. Someone mentioned possible conflicts causing slowdowns in 9.3, how do I check if this is the case? Mike

Hi guys, I really like SuSEfirewall2 - i think it's a nice logical way to do basic firewalling (so far I've always reverted to hand made iptables scripts for more advanced stuff...) I was just wondering, is there a way to see the iptables script that SuSEfirewall2 generate?
