How can I access a bash from Windows Laptop

I have a LAN with a desktop Windows machine, a semi-headless SuSE 9.1 professional box and a Windows laptop which I'd like to use as screen and keyboard to drive a SuSE bash shell while I'm developing on the desktop. Semi-headless means I have a KVM to switch between the desktop machine and the SuSE machine under the desk. That means I can get to it any time but it is inconvenient to lose sight of one machine while looking at the other during development. I suppose I could find a monitor and keyboard from somewhere and use that but I'm running out of real estate in my "office". How can I drive a bash shell on SuSE from the laptop? TIA Mike

Folks, Just wondering what manages block devices for SUSE 9.3; in other words, what's SUSE's version of the gnome-volume-properties tool which determines whether removable devices are mounted when detected. Thanks, Mike

kwallet fixed?

There was an issue earlier about kwallet, so I disabled it. Kmail still has issues, every time I reboot I have to put in the passwords, and even then, sometimes for my other user, kmail changes the settings or doesn't save the password. Is kwallet fixed? DVD+R burning & 9.3

Hi! I use SuSE 9.3. I downloaded the debian sarge dvd image 1, and went to burn it on a DVD+R. Disabling the unicode support

Hi, It seems I need to disable the unicode support on my system for some time. My problem is, that I have a bunch of very good Cyrillic fonts, but all of them are made for win95-98, and are NOT unicode. All of them are TrueType. The problem I'm facing is, that when I use these fonts, if I write something in English (latin letters), they are rendered OK. But with the Cyrillic letters, all the text is displayed in the default font for the system. This is not a big surprise, as these fonts does not have the scripts for different code pages, they have for only one, and the windows way of supporting Cyrillic in the past was, that these Cyrillic characters were placed in the latin code page in the higher part of the table, replacing some the non used codes. And the kbd driver just knew to use these codes when you switch to Cyrillic. As far as I need to use these fonts only to put some text over some pictures, I guess that temporary disabling of the Unicode maybe will solve my problem. I just don't want to boot in windows and fight to install Gimp or any other drawing program there. I'm using SuSE Pro 9.1 and 9.3 with KDE 3.4. So a solution for any of these will help. Wireless card switching from static IP to DHCP when WEP turned on

Hello All, This may sound dumb, but I assure you it's really happening to me. :-) Problem: When I activate WEP on my router and insert my PCMCIA card the 'proto' changes from static to DHCP. My router is not set to serve up addresses so I never get connected. If I disable WEP the card works great with a static address.
