Hi All My phone(house phone) is connected to my modem of my computer. Is there a program that can answer, dial and like a normal phone. So i connect my microphone to my pc and can talk like that. Regards Gerald

trackpoint disable

Hi, Running 9.1 on an Inspiron 8500 laptop and I have come up against the (well documented) problem of a wandering mouse cursor. Is there a way of disabling the trackpoint without disabling the touchpad? Cheers in advance, F

One thing though. If you want take something out of Runlevel 5 and then put it back later, it isn't guaranteed to go back to the same place. As a matter of fact, it probably won't. To avoid that, I simply go into the script itself and add an exit as the first line. Then, to re-activate it, I remove the exit. I'm sure that could definitely get wiped out with a YAST patch, but nothing I have stopped that way would be a problem if it suddenly started running again, so I don't worry about it. I originally had to do this re-ordering because YAST set up my samba NMB daemon ahead of CUPS. My startup would then hang with a message saying it was waiting for CUPS. So, I moved NMB to after CUPS and eliminated that problem. Otherwise, I wouldn't have ever felt the need to do it. By the way, according to Ken Schneider, you can no longer do this type of re-ordering in latter versions of SuSE, so this may or may not be an option for the person trying to solve the original problem. Seeking speech recognition solutions packaged for SuSE

Hi All, Anyone know of a working/promising *non-commercial* Linux speech recognition solution that has been packaged for SuSE users? If one exists, Google has *not* been my friend. I'm aware of ViaVoice, from IBM, and I'm currently studying Sphinx-4 (http://cmusphinx.sourceforge.net/sphinx4/) but I'd rather not recreate the wheel if I don't have to. :-) Thanks in advance for any guidance and a special "Hi!" to my favorite regulars (you should all know who you are :-) All is well. http remote install + dns weirdness

Has anybody had a problem in doing remote installs in that giving the FQDN of the install server fails, but going by IP + the sources directory works, even though you point your host to a legit name server? (eg. 127.10.10.10/suse/install/directory (fake IP there obviously)) With http get on the network, you'll see it emitting stuff like: http://127.10.10.10/suse/install/directory/i586/libvisual-0.2.0-4.i586.rpm HTTP/1.1 I seem to remember seeing this in the past, and last night was reminded of it when someone did an install from a server I have here, and it gave him this problem initially. Exiting the system from within a script

Hi, Overview of what I want to do. Allow a user to log on to an account, automatically exuecute a script that will allow them to change there samba password and exit the script, the logout of the account. I do not want them to get a command line. I have done something like this in AIX successfully but I am not sure how to do it in Suse or Redhat. I have a script and at the end of it I want to exit the shell (bash or ksh) then logoff the id. There is no logout command on the box. (Suse 8) Script would be something like trap "" 2 (commands) Allow entry of user id echo ... more ... ./smbpasswd $USRID exit How can I go about doing this. autoyast how-to

Greetings, Isn't there an autoyast how-to? I swear if google crashes today it will be my fault? I have searched every criteria I can think of and all I get is posts regarding issues.
