Can't enable 3d with NVIDIA drivers

I'm having trouble with SUSE 9.2 pro 64 bit. I'm using the latest version of the NVIDIA drivers from YOU. The problem is that if I enable 3D acceleration, when I restart X, I get a blank screen. The light on the monitor stays green, so some kind of signal is reaching the monitor. Alt+Enter doesn't do anything. Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't restart the system. If I try to switch to the console (Ctrl+Alt+F2), it still doesn't do anything. I've tried logging in as root (even though I can't see anything on screen) and rebooting the system (shutdown -r now), but it doesn't work. The only way I can get back into X is by rebooting to Failsafe mode, running YAST and disabling 3d. I've had it working before, but I'd run into this problem sporadically. Now it does it all the time. I don't know if it matters, but I have two GeForce 6800 GTs (SLI system). Any suggestions? Yippee38 ____________________________________________________ Yahoo! Problems with wireless shutdown

I am runing SUSE 9.3 AMD64 version of the operating system. I have installed a D-Link wireless card DWL-G520. I have succesfully link with a D-Link 624 router connected with via a DSL connection. The communication works without any problem. When I try to shutdown the system, the system hangs. This occurs when the system is trying to shutdown the Wireless system. It hangs on shutting down the wireless ethernet communication port. Looking in the log, I get the following: Jun 25 00:36:48 crab ifdown: Interface not available and no configuration found. Can any one help me. I don't like to turn off the computer when it hangs like that. -- Joseph Loo jloo(a)acm.org

YOU update icon not showing on KDE after upgrade

I recently upgraded from 9.2 to 9.3 but the icon that checks for updates is ever showing. Is there a way to start it Sean -- I wonder if I ought to tell them about my PREVIOUS LIFE as a COMPLETE STRANGER?

Copying file while adding preffix

I couldn't find an answer to this by research. If you have a recommended research resource, I'd appreciate learing it. I have SuSE 9.1, lots of memory, running on a dual boot Pentium attached via a Linksys router to the cable modem. The IP settings are fixed: IP is an internal address 4.18.22.130 default gateway 4.18.22.142 the Linksys subnet mask 255.255.255.192 primary & alternate DNS provided by ISP If I boot in XP which I no longer use, IE browses virtually immediately with the same fixed settings. If booting under SuSE, all browsers are painfully slow, typically > 30 secs I also have XP loaded under vmware (why the dual boot is not needed). IE under vmware loads a typical page in about 10 secs. Same fixed IP settings except the assigned IP is .136. I'm obviously missing something but can't determine what. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, jcp

Need a pcmcia WIFI card

Because my builtin Javelin wifi adaptor doesn't work under linux and I tried ndiswrapper, I may buy a cheap pcmcia card so that i can use the wifi, but I am wondering which one is best and sure to work under Linux Sean

List and example of fonts available in oOo

I'm getting ready to undertake a new writing project. In order to accomplish what I want, I'd like to use a number of different fonts for different purposes. I'm familiar with a few of the more common ones - Times New Roman, Arial, Courier, etc. but I'd like to experiment. Is there a web page some where where I can simply view a list of the default available fonts in oOo and see examples of each? A "Help" search on "Fonts" was no help and Googling "fonts" and "OpenOffice.org" gets me tons of responses but not the simple list that I'm looking for. TIA. Kelly -- Kelly J. Hello list I have done a fresh install of SuSE 9.3 on my laptop Intel Centrino Dothan 1.7 Ghz. Intel chipset 855PM - ICH4-m ATI M10 Graphic card The most curious phenomenom was that the sounds could be heard only when yast was on.
