Upgrading 9.0 to 9.2

Greetings - I have backed-up my files from my SuSE Pro 9.0 system with Ximian XD2 to a DVD-R. I have the SuSE Pro 9.2 box set and am getting ready to upgrade using the DVDs. Before trying a "clean install," I'd like to try to simply upgrade 9.0 to 9.2. I'm reading the manuals, checking out fora and messages boards, etc. I'd appreciate any tips that I should pay attention to from those who have already done the upgrade. For example, should I expect any particular difficulty trying to upgrade Ximian (GNOME) desktop environment (XD2) to a SuSE GNOME desktop? TIA Kelly -- Kelly J. Morris <kjmlists(a)comcast.net>

Upgrading to 9.3 got an error message

Got this message when i started to upgrade I got this in the packages section: Kernel-default 2.6.8-24 conflict Required by: kernelpdefault-nongpl requires kernel-default=2.6.8-24 I am thinking of removing the kernel-default-nongpl as I think it is to do with ndiswrapper. Should I be wary of doing this or just do it and proceed Sean -- Edwin Meese made me wear CORDOVANS!!

Ejecting USB Flash Disk?

When I plug in my USB Flash Disk, the Removable USB Media icon shows up on my desktop (KDE) and everything is ok. But when I right-click the icon there is no option to eject it as with a cdrom. I'm assuming that it isn't safe to just pull it out. Am I missing something here? -Mardy

LVM devices, LUNs, and several questions

I currently have six systems that all have SAN LUNS mounted as /dev/sdL#. The LUNS are also visible in /dev/scsi as some format I can't completely figure out. The /dev/scsi is: sgh1-0c0i3l9 sgh4-2c0i0l0 I believe the sgh# is the controller on the system while the l# is the LUN as presented from the SAN device. 1. What's all the stuff in between? 2. I seem to be using a qla2300 driver. Does this drive provide the ability to do failover, or is that a function of the OS? 3. If I have the need to unmount system1:/dev/sda1 and mount it on system2, what will /dev/sda1 be mapped as on system2? 4. Would it better to have the devices in a LVM, would #3 be easier to accomplish? 5. With LVM is there a way to control which system has access to the LVM at any given time? vi mode support in mysql

Running SuSE 9.3 recently upgraded from 9.1. Just noticed that "vi mode" support is not working in mysql. This worked in 9.1. To get into vi mode I press <esc>, <enter>. Has anyone else noticed this?

You don't have permission to access /otrs/installer.pl on this server

Hello, I tried to install OTRS 1.2.4 on a SuSE Linux 9.2 . When I want to run the setup on http://localhost/otrs/installer.pl I get the error message: "You don't have permission to access /otrs/installer.pl on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request." I checked the error log of apache2 and it says: "client denied by server configuration: /opt/otrs/bin/cgi-bin/index.pl" What can I do? What/where do I have to change something? Thanks! Regards, Ivan
