KSCD cdda not working in 9.3

I am still trying to track down why cdda does not work in 9.3. I am hoping some of you more programmer types can help. Here are the relevant config.log entries, followed with the results. The little_endian.h problems may be the problem as far as I can see, which is quite different than 9.2 little_endian.h, but that is perhaps the limit of my ability. SuSE x86_64 and java

Hi All, Just installed by boxed 9.2 on my AMD 64 platform and was surprised to notice java was not integrated with mozilla as is on the i386 install I have running on another of my platforms. Sure would like to see java working here but not sure what's up. Could anyone please lend a hand? Thanks in advance, Phil

Hi I installed SuSE 9.3 at work but im struggling to get the updates because of our proxy. My username is user(a)domain.com but in the yast proxy settings you cant input the "@" character so i cant input my username. I's there a file where i can change this or a way to bypass it? Thanx

I had a mechanical mouse with a ball and replaced it with a Logitech Value Optical Mouse on a SuSE 9.2 pro system. As expected, the mouse is not to use now. It is jumping around and open windows as it wishes. How can I fix that? bye Ronald

Kmail 'select To' frustration

Hiya gang, Using SuSE 9.3's Kmail, when I want to compose a new email, and click the 'select' button for the 'To' line, it brings up a list of addresses to pick from window. Most are the addresses I have in my addressbook because they're the ones I put there, but there are others that are there that I don't want in there, but I cannot for the life of me get rid of the darn things. They aren't in kabc, nor in my addressbook if I bring it up. Where are these things being stored? Why can't I right-click on them and delete them? Any clues to fix this little niggling problem greatly appreciated. PS Got my 67 year old mom using 9.3 now too, and she uses it 100% of the time, she doesn't boot into her windows partition ever anymore, but this Kmail thing is bothering her also, a lot more than it's bothering me, heh.

Is there really any huge reason to not have a 32-bit DVD and a 64-bit DVD like 99% of the other major distros? All it is, IMO is an inconvenience.

Thunderbird from Windows to Suse 9.3

Hello, I have dual boot for Windows XP and Suse 9.3. In Windows I did not have a smtp server setup to send out mail. I needed to bring the email I had stored in XP to Suse, as that is what I primarily use. I use Thunderbird in both XP and Suse. I accidently erased my account settings in XP. I set up the exact same account, and even copied the folders into that accounts folder. It did not bring up my mail. The folders and email are still on my XP partition. All I want is for the e-mail to be in Suse. In Thunderbird you cannot import from Thunderbird. Is there a way to bring a copy of the e-mail folders/files into Suse from the XP partition (which I can access through command line or konqueror). I don't need them in XP, and don't want to fiddle around in XP trying to restore it, just to forward it to myself. Thank you. - James W

Copy spool mail files?

Is there a way to copy email from one boot /var/spool/mail to a differnt boot /var/spool/mail? One is SuSE 9.3 and the other is 8.2. I only have 3 users set up so far. TIA Jim Flanagan linuxjim at jjfiii.com

Failure to see my Jaz drives

I am running 9.3, my first update since 8.0. Everything looks pretty good overall. I have a SCSI controller card with 2 external Jaz drives chained off of it. As far as I can tell the system knows about the controller card but never has recognized the disks. This was not a problem in 8.0 or earlier versions. I looked around and can find no tool to sniff out the drives. I used the repair system operation on the install disk to see what I could come up with but no go. At one point I (inadvertently) wound up in the curses based, yast package and had a chance to look at what modules it thought were installed and a SCSI entry was there. Any ideas as I how I should proceed? lsmod does show scsi_mod in the output if that helps. dmesg always used to show references to both drives (sda and sdb) but now the only entry is 'SCSI subsystem initialized'. The drives ARE working as the machine is dual boot and they are visible to XP. Thanks
