I am currently using Piranha clustering running on RedHat 6.2 I want to migrate the same with Suse 8.2 any your suggestion on this issue is highly appreciated. Regards, Milind

Nice, everything (things I tried) works, even on my Centrino notebook including WLAN with Intel 'native' driver. Battery life is better than with 9.0... Switching to linux workstation??

I've set up a couple of simple linux servers but haven't switched over to using a linux workstation because I need a good sound editor (I produce news for a local radio station) and I do desktop publishing and need a suitable substitute for pagemaker. Does anyone know of good linux page layout and sound editing software?? Phil

Migration from RedHat to Suse????

List, I have few server / services like DNS, Radius, Mail, Firewall etc. currently running on RedHat 6.2 , 7.2, 9.0.... I want to migrate the same on Suse 8.2 with Kernel 2.6. Need your suggestion, advice on the same. Any other recommendation is most welcome. Highlight any license / copyright issue in switching from RedHat to Suse 8.2 Regards, Milind

Suse 9.1 - Tomcat Minor Problem

Installing Tomcat as part of the initially selected packages results in 'failed' when 'rctomcat start' is issued. Why? Because Suse 9.1 does not create the required user and group. It is interesting that this does not occur if one installs Tomcat, after completing an initial installation. Another indicator that this distro should have been delayed for a couple of weeks, so that more thorough checking could take place?

Suse 9.1 Software Raid Problems

Software raid devices stop without any reason, during installation (in this case one can not complete the installation) and after installation. This has occured on two motherboards with Intel's 865 PE chipset and Maxtor (80 GB / 8 MB Cache) disks. The exact same machines, work perfectly (with software raid) under Suse Linux 9.0. So, is it the new kernel, or what? Furthermore, is Suse aware of the problem? Are the solving it? Please advise. Panos

help on disk upgrade

Hy there! first of all, forgive my english, i read a lot better then write!! Oh great hall of linux geeks, my question is the following : I´ll need to upgrade my production network server (samba + mysql) hd´s, with the following scenario : i actually have 4 20 Gig disks, 2 of then into an raid1 (software) and another two for backups pourpouses, but my poor raid is actualy 97% full..... and if our dear shoes designers save another 200 megs files, i´ll probably will have my face into a dart target... no problems into transfering data, partitioning, building raid valumes, blablabal, BUT I CAN´T BOOT! please, i´m completly newby with boot loaders over linux machines, i´ve been searching discussion lists like these, googling a lot ever the last week, but everywhere where someone tell woh to make it, theres a lack of information exacly where they say how to transfer the boot, and time is going short! P.S : not shure about wich boot loader actualy using.. LILO or GRUB, both are installed, and can´t restart server over next 3 weeks! using SUSE 8.1 any help, even a link, would be very welcome.
