Hi, Does anyone know if there is a glibc update coming from SuSE 8.2? According to the cross over office mailing list there are number of problems in glibc-2.3.2-6 which have been resolved in glibc-2.3.2-8. Thanks, Robert

(SLE) 8 and rsync issues

Apologies if this has been discussed before but I have only just subscribed. Problem : Run half hourly ryncs (Version 2.5.5) from one SLES8 host to another. Unfortunately about one out of every ten ryncs fail immediately with the following :- > rsync error: partial transfer (code 23) at main.c(578) > rsync of directory lonshsfappb1.uk.db.com:/data failed There are no sym links in the /data file system and network connectivity between the two nodes has not been problematic. I've trawled through the internet and have not found anything specific that I can go on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark Needham

If > so, it may not be in the db. I've checked nVidia doc that comes with the latest driver set. 0x0312 definitely identifies a Geforce FX 5600. A Geforce FX 5800 is identified by 0x0302. So this is somewhat strange. And I can imagine this goes wrong. The nVidia driver detects the card by looking at this PCI id, and the driver *thinks* it deals with a 5600 iso a 5800. Could you provide the log file (/var/log/XFree86.0.log) so that we can have a look? Regards Harry

The solution. Download 1210 PPD file from this web page: http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-PSC_1210 Copy the PPD file to /usr/share/cups/model/HP. Install printer as typically would using Yast. PSC 1210 is now a driver choice offered under HP. SuSE rolls out Linux Desktop 9.0 Posted September 29, 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time SuSE Linux on Tuesday will do its bit to bridge the 34- and 64-bit worlds when it makes available its SuSE Linux 9.0 desktop operating system that supports 32- and 64-bit applications running on AMD's Athlon 64 processor. Firewall is getting hammered...help

I'm with verizon "business" dsl. I've been having a problem lately with my firewall getting hammered by someone, or some people, on verizon. It almost appears that I'm getting a denial of service attack, but I think it's just somone sniffing...a lot. problems with external firewire drives

Hi- It's been a while since I've posted here as things have been working fine. except, now I've running into hardware problems. I'm a software guy, this stuff is just supposed to work! :-D OK, I have 2 external 120gb firewire drives and a Lexar firewire CF card reader attached to my firewire card on my SuSE 8.0 box. 2.4.18-64GB-SMP One of the drives says it's mounted, but only shows being 500megs and nothing is there. fdisk -l shows the full 120gigs. I've tried to umount the disk, but mount complains that the 'device is busy'. fuser shows that the kernel is accessing it. The other drive returns with the following error when I try to mount it: "mount: Not a directory". Now I've dug around for this error and nothing I found really suited me. The lexar CF card reader is fine! I'm including the output from df, fdisk, and catting /proc/partitions. I've also included the output from hwinfo --pci for the firewire card.
