Gnome/Nautilus: Can't associate OO document

Hello When I open the Nautilus file manager and click on a *.sxw document, the message "Nautilus has no installed viewer capable of displaying <file>". I associate the file type with soffice but that doesn't work either (it appears to "take" but subsequent double clicks come back with the first message. Does anyone know where I have to drill to make this work? Cheers

Flash drive problem on Suse 8.2

I have a Sony MicroVault 128MB flash memory USB2 storage device, a pen drive or whatever it is called, which works fine in Windows. One of the reasons I bought Suse was that it claims to work with USB2 devices. When I plug it into my PC, after a few seconds, a new icon appears on my Suse desktop with the title sda1, but when I right click on it and try to mount it, or try to mount it from a command line, using: mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /media/sda1 I get an error message saying that the file system type is not supported. The curious thing is that if I then unplug it, the icon disappears... I enclose a part of the contents of /var/log/messages at the end of this email if it helps. I have tried formatting the thing under windows as both FAT and also FAT32 but get the same error.... Upgraded to Suse 8.2, can no longer play audioCDs

I've did a (clean) install of suse 8.2 on my box This bbox has a dvd drive, a cdrecorder (hda and hdb aka sr0) 6 scsi disks (including a bootdisk) and an IDE drive (hdd). I was not referring to the general specs but the specifics I will need to enter into the monitor database so that I can set it up with sax after booting to linux 3. That way I can use both monitors easily. I have setup information in detail for the Futura but not eh Mag. IOW the setup I need to enter for the XF86Config file. Or the system by which the general generic monitor specs can be used to derive the information used in XF86Config. Sorry I forgot the name of the config file to clarify my question. Absolutely fantastic. SuSE 8.2 picked it all up. BTW do you know of any program what monitors the speed etc of this card ( connection). Thanks again for assuring me it will work with SuSE. CyberKey and SuSE

Creating a backup of installation CDs

I'm one of those that like to keep backups of installation media, just in case something happens (worse that ever happened was house fire and lost over $1000 in cds that I did not have backups for). Analog of ssh, scp and sftp for windoze clients

Hello SuSE folkz, I need to setup secure ftp server for our network. Will be able winbloze users to download and upload their files on this server if I go with ssh, scp and sftp setup? Are there any secure ftp clients in M$ world which compatible with Linux? Thank you in advance. Alex

X server won't shut down

Whenever I log out of KDE to the console, I do not get a prompt - it stops at "Waiting for X server to shut down". Then it just hangs there. Ctrl-Alt-Bksp doesn't help either. I end up rebooting the machine. Can someone give me a clue as to what to look for?
