Hello ! Still on with my ADSL and the nas0 mystery. Could somebody who got a normal serial modem 56K connectionsend me the text (excluding the lines with name and user which are privacy) of the mentionned script ? (Since I am near to ready for ADSL, I got it configured for and have lost the normal connection script, hence that to revert it it seems there no other option than erasing and reinstalling, which i don't really want to do : costs a lot of time,...). rgds Jacek

YOU & Amavis-Postfix trouble

I had to turn off my Amavis-postfix scanner after doing a SuSE 7.3 Yast2 online update today. If you do decide, that in your mind, mandrake is better then suse or vise versa. Thats great i'm happy for ya. At least your using linux. I may not think mandrake is the best distro out there, but that my personal opinion. I keep encountering other users that use a diffrent distro then me and when asked what I run I tell them SuSE, and then I am attack with comments like "baah, SuSE is shit." or "SuSE is full of security holes, use this distro or that distro." Or my integridy as a linux use is attacked. Please dont do this and dont lower your self to this level. This kinda behavior is not acceptible for any OS. There shouldnt be a conflict between the distro's. All distros are virtully the same. And it really is the end users opinion as to what distro is better, they are all good, they all run the same software, they all run on the same platforms, and they are all very well made. There is no reason to attack a user whom uses another distro. Just be happy for them, and if they attack you with cruel comments, please realalize that their IQ is most likely no bigger then their shoe size and they are so narrow minded that they can look through a key hole. Just thought I would get that out there because the question has arised which is better.

Ugly fonts w/StarOffice 5.2

Hi there, I'm new to SuSE and coming from both RedHat and Debian. Remembering when I tryed SuSE 7.0 DEMO, I so decide to switch to SuSE 7.3 Pro. Good choice excepted for one extremely important thing: I can't use the "built in" StarOffice 5.2 for my everyday work! Fonts [and so all about my 400 .sdw docs] are unreadable [They are when I switch to "online view"]. I think it is X or Ghostscript the guilty and maybe it is a problem concerning scalability and printability of fonts with StarOffice. SuSE support said this problem is out of the scope of the 90-d support and simply tell me to do"something" with KFontInstall... So could anyone please help me about this? compiling Nvidia drivers against 2.4.17

I have mentioned to the list before about having trouble compiling the nvidia drivers against 2.4.17 kernel (from mantel), and have seen others mention it as well. I copied the 2.4.17 source off my desktop to my laptop, which is linux-2.4.17.SuSE-0.tar.bz2 and the nvidia drivers compile fine against them, but it is the linux-2.4.17.SuSE-11.tar.bz2 that the nvidia drivers will *not* compile for. So apparently, some change b/t those has broken the nvidia drivers. On a side note: the orinoco_cs module in 2.4.17-0 compiles and loads fine (which it would not in 2.4.16), which is what started this whole mess for me. And SuSE looses a potential customer You mean to tell me that you want to sit there and watch SuSE lose potential coustomers everyday?? Someone on this list made a very good suggestion: Have ISO's but keep them a version or two behind the current. My fight here, is not totaly 100% personal, if it was 100% personal then I woulda shut up along time ago. I talk to lots of people on irc in and out of linux channels that would love to try SuSE, but dont for the simple fact that SuSE doesnt have ISO's. and they dont know how to do a package by package download and they dont know how to install from an ftp. These are the people I fight for. And as for the decision to remove the ISO's from the ftp was infact for development costs But I see this hurting them more in the long run then what its gonna help them.
