SANE it is not

I have SANE installed and HP5300C connected to USB port. Installed the HP5300 module for the kernel. When I sane-fine-scanner, is shows the the scanner at /dev/sg0. I ran yast1, now it shows up both at /dev/sg0 and dev/scanner. cat /proc/scsi/scsi shows the HP 5300C printer. If I run imagescan -L, it cannot find anything. I edited the dll.config file and uncommented the avision line. (HP5300C supposedly takes the avision driver). Still imagescan -L cannot find it. Can anyone help? Art

ati radeon "theater"

I'm trying to set up an ati radeon "theater" agp video card. It has a tv card/port built in. I'm unable to determine if it should work or not. Any one out there with one of these and working with kwintv or xawtv?? I have 3d working but can't seem to get the tv section of the card working. Thanks -- Mark Hounschell dmarkh(a)cfl.rr.com

There is nothing wrong with a company wanting to make a profit on their work. In fact in order for the economy to work there needs to be an exchange of something for services rendered. In some cases this is a free exchange of programming skills, in others it is an exchange of money in return for a well packaged, scripted installation. NO ONE is entitled to "something for nothing". The way I see it is there are 3 options: 1. pay a reasonable charge for 7 CDs/1 DVD packed full of installable programs, 2. find someone who will let you copy the cds, 3. download the packages and install them yourself. Remember, nothing is free and GPL doesn't entitled you to a specific packaging or ease of installation of the programs. I am looking for a program that will let me copy a web site. The web site runs through apache/mod_php and has some password protection. That is, when browsing with netscape/opera/konqueror, it asks for a username and password before revealing the first page. I have tried wget but couldn't get it to sent the password. Any suggestions will be received gratefully. The name of the program should be enough for me. Alternatively, suggestions for how to use wget if that can be done. JDL

CD writer Teac 524E

Short question, I would like to buy a CD writer that is good and actually works with linux. A test review in a magazine rated Teac CD524E and Mitsumi CR4809 as the top 2. My preference goes to the Teac, does anyone have experience with this CD -writer on Suse? I searched the list archives and the net, but there is hardly any info (at least for the Teac: http://www.teac.com/DSPD/24X10X40_Retail_Kit.htm) -- Thanks in advance, Richard Bos For those without home the journey is endless

Hi, Instead of offering you some cheese with that whine, I recommend that you try the following: 0 20 * * * . /etc/profile && echo $PATH Of course you would replace the "0" and "20" with a time of your choice :) AND - there ARE reasons for NOT having the FULL path available in cron.
