Changing screen resolution with KDE

Perhaps this is a silly question. Here it goes: I have configured two screen resolutions using Sax. So now I can switch resolution just pressing CTRL-ALT and +/-. However, KDE desktop keeps in large resolution when I switch to lower and I have to scroll... How can I resize the desktop whenever I do change the resolution? Cheers!

Hey, I'm trying to set up pop-before-smtp on postfix to work with Solid-POP3d and I must have a valid regexp, but I don't know what I'm going. Someone suggested running it like so: perl -ne '^(... .. ..:..:..) \S+ spop3d\[\d+\]: user .*/spop3d authenticated - (\d+\.\d+\.\d+\.\d+)$ and print' /log/messages But that complains loudly about many things and I can't be _that_ wrong, so I have come to the conclusion that it doens't act the same on the command line as it does in this file's context. Don't know enough about perl to try stick it in a file either. [SLE] Help with USB smartmedia reader on SuSE 7.3- Solved

This sounds like an issue I had. Let me be sure I understand your situation. If you use the rear USB ports (the ones integrated to your motherboard) it works OK. If you use the front mounted USB ports, it does not work. Is this correct? Do you get any messages in /var/log/messages when you try to plug a device in the front USB ports? Perhaps even something like this: usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=2 (error=-110) If this desribes your issue, you may not have a bad port on the front. For me at least, this problem was a hardware issue, well, more of a sloppy motherboard mounting issue. On my case (a Lian-Li) the plugs that conect the front USB ports are not a single unit but discrete plugs (one per pin). There are five connections: VBUS, D-, D+, GND, D+, D-. In connecting the front USB ports, what I manged to do was to reverse the D+ and D- conections. This allowed a device to be powers and look like it should work, but when the drivers tried to send back an address for the device to use, it was being sent to the wrong pin. When I swapped the pins, my USB devices worked correctly. Were the USB connector a single unit, this mistake could not be made, but if you happen to have a configuration like mine, you might have the same issue that I had. Hello, I'm running SuSe7.3 professional, every day around 16:00 (EST) y2bignfat start executing and with all of it's stuff slows down my dual PIII with 512Mb of ram. How can I set up the time for this maintaince to take place later? Update cups - now no printing

I have been update cups from suse page, and after that I am unable to print. Yast2, after selecting the printer stop working. (no crash, only that d'ont make nothing)

KERNEL PANIC with scsi-emulation using a Sony CDRW

Hi, I've bought a Sony CDRW 1611-82E that's an IDE/ATAPI CD Writter. When I try to burn a CD with cdrecord, system hangs hard. There're a lot of messages from kernel related to scsi emulation, the last one is something about "scsi timeout" and then a kernel core dump and system fully locked. This is a SuSE 7.3 with the default distribution kernel. I've added lilo entries "ide-scsi=hdx" for both, CD-Writter (secondary ide master) and CD-Reader (secondary ide slave). I've note a extrange thing when I load the ide-scsi module.
