SuSE 8.1 && WinModem && rpm

Hi *, I own a IBM T20 laptop running SuSE 8.1. I now like to get the internal modem up and running but struggle doing this. When I try to install the binary for the modem I get a "Failed dependencies" error - see below. overflow with texexec

Hi, Now my turn to ask questions :-) I am trying to convert a PDF to screen mode and it barks out overflow and the process is just hanging there any ideas why this happens and how to overcome. switching resolution

Hi, My XFree86Config file finally got tweaked and it works fine with my NVIDIA card - [still no 3D but it works at least]. The method for determination of modes is "IteratePrecisely" and I have not had to specify modelines. Now there is only one place to specify the resolutions, and I did. The first resolution is taken fine. The second resolution is not switchable with control-alt-[+/-]. I remember something like a virtual resolution, or some other keyword which we used to have with X3.x where the switching of resolutions was possible. That is not yet present here. Would someone send me some insight on this? LinNeighborhood help needed

I am new to Linux and am trying to get LinNeighborhood working on my Suse 8.1 system. When I try to mount a share I get the following message... "smbmnt must be installed suid root for direct user mounts (500,500)" "smbmnt failed: 1" I have done quite a bit of searching and reading but all the information I've found is not for a beginner (they seem to make many assumptions) or for a different Linux distribution. Could someone walk me through this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Matt

Any idea why this web site would crash Konqueor ?

This site always seems to crash my version of Konqueror- 3.04. http://www.dpreview.com/ It prompts me about downloading a plugin from macromedia (it doesn't mention flash) but then regardless of what I chose- "yes" or "no" Konq just shuts down afterwards. Any idea why this happens and how to prevent it? Thanks a lot, -- Rick

pty and data modification

Hello, i am using a pseudo terminal (pty) (with expect.pm) and have telnet on the slave side. I can receive all data correcly from telnet via the pty but the sequence 0x09 (backspace) 0x20 (space) 0x09 (backspace) is reduced to 0x09 (backspace). I tried setting the terminal options to "raw", but it didn't change. When and why is pty modifying the sequence? Is there a possibility to avoid this? I have logged the telnet communication, telnet is sending data correctly... Regards, Ulrich
