[SLE] continuous high load while nothing's happening??

Hello all, My machine continuously is running with a load of 1.0 (was 1.9) while idling. I already brought it down by limiting the nscd threads and stopping all daemons that aren't necessary, but is still stays at a minimum load of 1.0 This is not what it used to be. [SLE] Conflicting network cards...

Hi, All - Just got back online after 24 hours of not being able to do so. That part of the problem is resolved; however, there's still the matter of the local network i'm trying to get set up. Both NIC's are the same make. (D-Link) 530TX They are on different IRQ's, (5 & 9, respectively, IIRC). I used Yast to set both up...evidently, not the best idea. 8( I'm trying to set up an NFS server, for one client. Client needs to be able to access my ADSL connection. I have RTFM. The whole experience has put the "F" in RTFM. <smirk> Could someone be so kind as to give me a step-by step of how to make NFS happen, without confusing the bejesus out of my machine? Or the client? dear All, I am using Linux Suse 6.3 and my *nix network is using AMD (am-utils) for the automounter daemon. I cannot find the am-utils RPM in the 6.3 distribution, it seems that they use autofs now. Anybody can help me where I can find RPM for this am-utils ? Reply-To: Hi I have just downloaded all the updates for 6.3. In the manual it gives instructions for doing an upgrade from an earlier version to 6.3 but not for updating the current version. Is there a way to just point Yast at the local upadates directory tree and tell it just to upgrade installed packages or do I have to do each one by hand with "RPM -U" ? I've currently acquired the cable-modem service in Vancouver Canada from Rogers, and I was trying to get my SuSE 6.1 box running with dhclient (standard from the CDs). I've try connecting without the DHCP with the static numbers that they provide.. and I've try to set up dhclient to work with the service, nothing worked.. I've disabled the PnPray mode in my 3com card, and in Win95 the service is fine, only I cannot setup to make it work under Linux... Could someone help? For more info on this TLD topic, I suggest anyone who wants to take a stance should go back and reread RFC920 before they do much of anything, then come chat about what was domains were intended for. There's some MIGHTY interesting clauses in there.. such as that if you have over 500 hosts, you can make a petition for your own TLD (.IBM would probably be a good example).
