[SLE] What the heck is this?

Hello, emails are appearing in my SuSE folder, which have my Subject lines, sent from postmaster(a)huzd002a.te6.siemens.be Everytime I post, I receive my post via the thread as well as this thing with the same exact Subject line. What is it? The contents are always the same. Clock skewed

Hi all When I try to recompile the kernel I get a message saying the clock is skewed and the build may not work. What does this mean and how can I fix it ? I am running SuSe 6.1 with kernel 2.2.5. Thanks Mike

[SuSE Linux] Call-back with SuSE 6.1

Hi, everybody I'm new to Linux. Installed SuSE a couple of weeks ago and now trying to get some functionality. I have trouble setting up call-back (SuSe 6.1<---> ISP's NT Server 4.0) with optional number (fixed as well). Tried to use wvdial, but with no success (it dials OK, but then seems like doesn't know what to do next). Can it do the trick? I feel that maybe some scripting could help me. Could anybody provide me with necessary directions (or direct to the information) for making a flexible script and what software I need installed or some other approach? (I've read PPP-HOWTO but don't know if the information it contains applicable to current SuSE version; it doesn't say anything about wvdial). One more thing. Is it necessary to set the proper values in "resolv.conf" and host.conf? Some other files? I actually tried to find the answer and found a sample ppp.conf with brief instructions on settings (from Free-BSD as I remember), but can I use it with SuSE 6.1 and how? Thank you all for helping me this days so much. This is the first mail I'm sending within Linux and it feels great! My PPP connection is up and running! Besides the "lock" option I had to comment, I've found out, to my ashame that I haven't the PPP compiled into the kernel! I was used with Red Hat where this was done by default. Instead, the guys from SuSE included radio modems in the kernel, and no PPP. when doing a standard installation. Interesting.. Again, thanx to all those who bothered to answer to my help request messages. [SuSE Linux] Leafnode

Hi I'm trying to start using a localhost nntp server called leafnode. The instructions for leafnode instruct me to run the program "fetch", which actually goes out and gets the news, as user "news". Unfortunately, news gets the error: Could not open lockfile /var/run/fetch.lck for writing, abort fetch ... Sould I change the permissions on the dir (seems like a bad idea...) or run fetch as root? [SuSE Linux] Printing with SuSE

Has anyone elso gotten a HP Dekjet to working properly with SuSE 6.0? [SuSE Linux] disk performance

Hi, A disk performance question :-) I have two UW scsi disks (IBM [id 6] and Quantum [id0]) on the same UW SCSI-3 Tekram controller [id 7]. Nothing else is attached to the controller. Controller is set to 40MB/sec transfer rate in its scsi config utility. It detects disks correctly and sets the transfer rate to 40MB/sec (I can see that when the system boots and scsi info is displayed). Quantum disk is capable of 40MB/sec and IBM is capable of 80MB/sec. Kernel is configured with the highest possible number (40MHz) for transfers. I was copying a large file (50Meg) from quantum to ibm disk using mc. mc has a nice feature that shows you the transfer rate in MB. That indicated the transfers of ~3MB/sec... I have to note that I was going from a native linux partition to a fat32.
