[SuSE Linux] Cannot Install SuSE 5.3

So, I got another floppy drive connected via the parallel port, this one can't be marked as bootable by the bios either. However I can run loadlin from it and this way the CDROM is plugged in at the kernel boot time. However I can't seem to get the correct file/options set to boot the linux kernel on the SuSE floppy using loadlin from a DOS prompt. Here is what I tried: "loadlin e:\linux root=/dev/hdc ro" The kernel loads and then starts to boot fine. This time is does recognize the CDROM since it is installed at boot time with: hda: TOSHIBA MK3003MAN, 2937 MB w/128kB Cache, CHS=746/128/63 hdc: TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-2402B, ATAPI CDROM drive But right after: VFS: Mounted root (iso9660 filesystem) readonly. Unable to open an initial console. It hangs. This time I can load and boot the kernel. The kernel sees, recognizes and mounts the CRROM read-only, however now it is complaining about a console path. [SuSE Linux] Kuser doesn't work

I'm trying the new KDE 1.1 but Kuser doesn't work: it fails to creaty directories and then new account..any other with this problem? [SuSE Linux] ApplixWare installation glitch

Well actually, when I just let it do its stuff, it worked fine... I bought ApplixWare for Linux this weekend and went to install it. Now, I've got SuSE 6.0 installed which is apparently libc6 (glibc). So I was a bit surprised to discover Applix trying to install its libc5 version when there's a libc6 version just sitting there. It turns out that one of its criteria for determining that this is a libc6 system, is to look for /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.8. This doesn't exist in SuSE 6.0 - it has libstdc++ 2.7 and libstdc++ 2.9, but not 2.8. First I tried to just create a symlink from version 2.9 to version 2.8, and Applix installed the libc6 version, but failed to work due to unresolved symbols. Then I tried to find a libstdc++ 2.8, but found that very difficult, finally found sources to 2.8.1 and 2.8.1.1 but they failed to make (compiler errors, looks like errors in the source code). This of course might be why SuSE doesn't include them :-) But anyway, I reverted and just let it install the libc5 version and it works fine, but it would be nice to be able to know I could install libc6 software. It would be even nicer if Applix didn't depend upon internal library symbols so one could use it with newer versions of the libraries it uses... [SuSE Linux] SuSE 6.0 and Samba, with Access Database

Hello, I have installed SuSE on a PII-300 with a Wide SCSI drive connected to a Adaptec SCSI controller. It works great!! Now, on to samba, I have tried to up the performance of my samba server while *sharing* an access database. I try to add the "socket option = TCP_NODELAY" but in the log it says there is no such flag. I installed the samba rpm from the cd. Any insight to this problem, Any else solve it?
