[SuSE Linux] Help with dhclient

I recently installed SUSE 5.3 Linux on a PC. There are two NICs. One is connected to two other PCS, and the internal network works fine. The other NIC is connected to Bell's high-speed 1 Mbit modem. The service provides dynamic IP addresses only. I installed "dhclient", which is run as 'dhclient eth1". This also messes up my internal network, which is on eth0. Is there something in the config files that need to be changed? [SuSE Linux] Apache et al

After installing SuSE 6.0, am I expected to do much configuration of Apache and modules? I was under the impression that the install would set it up for standalone version. [SuSE Linux] Modems (again)

I just visited the 3Com's site (they're the ones selling US Robotics modems). The US Robotics Courier V Everything seems like the ideal internal modem for a non-windows operating system. It's even mentioned in the specs. Does anyone have this particular model and if so, how does it perform in the real world? Re: Star Office, all I'm looking for is the spreadsheet (supposedly) included with the suite. Abs, a Xaw-based spreadsheet, mangled my calculations. [SuSE Linux] Beowolf with SuSE 6.0

My son and three of his classmates got the assignment to put together a Beowolf cluster as a class project in the next two weeks. He said they are leaning towards using SuSE. We had hoped our SuSE 6.0 subscription would have arrived by now, but so far we are out of luck. Is it better to try to postpone the assignment until we get SuSE 6.0 or better to just use 5.3? A deeper question : is SuSE better than RedHat for Beowolf? How about this question: Providing they get it set up and running, what software is available to show it working? thanks in advance. joe PS: At least one professor is looking forward to seeing it work and said that if it works OK they will keep it and use it as an addition trainig aid. [SuSE Linux] How could I install the aic7xxx disck Update ?

Hi all, Thanks Lenz for your help I am describing what I did because I did not succeded with this new aic7xxx update ! I was able to copy the aic7xxx to the floppy. I have also boted the system with this new floppy and when prompted I choosed install and then boot on my root partition which is /dev/sda8 every thing went well untill the time to start the xserver. This keep looping I gess without giving me the kde display I asked for. Is it possible to upgrade suse 5.2 to 6.0 from a cd ? - Like yast upgrade ? Please let it be possible ;) Is it wise to do that at all ? [SuSE Linux] root user problem with KDE 1.1

Hi, I have SuSE 5.2 and I installed KDE 1.1 tar files... It worked fine, and after making the .xinit files for all users (including the /root directory) all the users can login to KDE except the root.... When I remove the .xinit from the root, it gets into fvwm2. I heared that SuSE handels the root users differently? How can I make the root logs into KDE.... [SuSE Linux] star office 5.0 and SUSE 6.0

Hi, I purchased Suse 6.0 but found no registration card in the box. Additionally, the registration number was not printed on the inner portion of the manual. I'm wondering how to go about installing star office. I ran sosetup but the star office install requires a key. Therefore, I went to the star office site and optioned one. I enter the user information and then the key. However, the "next" button is never selectable. Thanks, Scott Gray PS: I did install so_en. However, I did it manually as follows: rpm -Uvh --force so_enxxx.rpm The package would not install without my specifying the "force" option.
