Hi Steve: Many thanks - your views confirm my line of thinking - my boss wants an answer asap, as we have some money to dispose of, and I have to give him a list of goodies by tomorrow... I've personally have had good service from Fujitech (High Technology Co.) and was impressed when they honoured the guarantee on my home PC - without a murmur - some 14 months after I bought it from a dealer in Randburg who soon after went under. They offer a 5 year guarantee - which could be worth a lot! Hi, I Had the same problem but after two weeks of trying i found an Postgres error-log stating that Postgres had found a file /tmp/.s.(something).(port) (also could be in /tmp/run but i can't remember). remove this file and re-init. It worked for me. Well, my Linux install is at the end of my second harddisk (and above 1024 cylinders as such). I have no problems, though. I use Boot Manager (Comes with OS/2 and PQ Magic 3.0x) to boot between Win98 and Linux and have Lilo on the logical root partition of drive two (/dev/hdb6). Works like a charm (BTW: *don't* set the linear option. At least that didn't work in 5.2 and I suspect it still doesn't). Just my couple of bits of info.... This is an up date to my previous post. First I would like to thank everybody for there help and suggestions. This is what I found. After much chasing of my tail I went into YaST and removed Samba, as well as a bunch of other mail programs that I was not using and anything which I thought I did not need. I then reinstalled Samba, rebooted the system and smbd -D and nmbd -D now worked all the time. I still was not happy, as I wanted to know why before it did not work. The default smb.conf file worked and seemed stable. After a day I started to change one area at a time and this is when I found my problem I think. In smb.conf there is a line which says, "Please uncomment the following entry and replace the ip number and netmask with the correct numbers for your ethernet interface......" If I do this, then nmbd -D stops working. Evry time This is what I have found and I hope it helps someone. [SuSE Linux] wuftp problem

I can connect to wuftp on linux from my winNT4 box but I see no directory listing . I'm using wsftp and have no other problems. There must be some config that's missing for ftpd or wu-ftpd. Anyone got this working, and help appreciated.
