Well, since the beta mail list seems to have died (haven't received anything in week) I will post the question here. Has anyone gotten ppp connections (pap) working on 6.0 beta? I had three systems that all connected fine under 5.3. Put 6.0 and set up the same way, and they never authenticate (yes, ppp is compiled in the kernel). Got the latest ppp (2.3.5, beta comes with 2.3.4 if I recall) but still no go. Speaking of up to date stuff, notice that patch is 2.1 (while I know 2.5 is out), python I think is a little old as well). [SuSE Linux] WP8 hosed my printer

I installed WP8, and it seems to work fine, but now my printer doesn't work in any application. [SuSE Linux] BinHex?

Hi all; I was sent 3 jpg files. When I tried to look at them in xv it give me the error "must be converted by BinHex 4.0". Does anyone know what the heck this is? And what to do? I've looked "high and low," and have yet to find a DVD player for Linux. Is there one and I just haven't found it, or is there one being written, or should I forget the whole idea? [SuSE Linux] More SAMBA problems

Hi there everyone! I am fairly new to Linux but I am really enjoying working with it, I was always a DOS/Windows/NT user up till now. I also have a problem with samba, I have set up a linux fileserver using Samba version 1.9.18p10. I can see and use shares on my linux 5.3 box with my other server (NT 4.0). I can see the NT server from the Linux box using smbclient -L servername and I can see what services are available. However when I use "smbmount //myservername/myshare /mymountpoint" to mount a share, I get an error "mount error: Invalid argument" I have read through all the docs and how-to's but I am most perplexed to say the least!! Hello list, I'm a newbie to linux, last week I installed Suse 5.3 on a 486 dx25. This went relativly simply, yesterday I tried to install it on my other computer. A K6-2 at 300Mhz. Unfortunately this is a SCSI system. After trying several times to install linux from my cdrom I stopped. What was the problem: I have a Adaptec 1515 controller in it. Linux reconized it as a module, so far so good cause it took a while. Then I tried to get my cdrom to work. I almost tried evrything. Autoload of mudules doesn't work. When I went into M$ Windhoos I saw the Adapted card is at IRQ 10. When I load the aha152X module it tells me that the card is at IRQ 11, but also say that this is maybe wrong. Any one have a idea what is wrong( don't say Windoze, cause I already know it isn't stable etc. !) ??? Cause windooze isn't stable enough and I will have acces to the Internet by a cable-modem ( If anything goes right) soon I'm planning to build a little LAN at home, I'm plannig to use an Linux pc as a gateway and also as Samba Server. Here is my second question about. Last week a read a mail about a NIC that was very good with Linux. I don't know the brand anymore. Something with King????? Can someone tell me what the name is? And how much they plus/minus cost?
