Hi. I wqanna run a little Database on my box, just for learning. Ive installed postgres and I can use it whene logged in as postgres but whene Im logged in as myself and try to start the template database with psql template1 I get the error message Connection to database 'template1' failed FATAL1: SetUserId: user ola not in "pg_shadow" Im clueless. ps. I havnt altered the pg_hba.conf file. should I? [SuSE Linux] Matrox Mystique G200

I read that the driver for this card is integrated into Xfree86 3.3.3, so i checked their website for info about the integration. The site said the card is supported via the xsvga server. Does anyone know if this server is accelerated for the card? [SuSE Linux] changing PATH variable

i am having trouble adding to my PATH statement. I want to add /var/lib/postgres But I get a note ".profile" Cannot create backup file (use ! to override) Whenever I try to modify and write the .profile file. I have also tried PATH=$PATH"/var/lib/postgres" per Beginning Linux Programming and PATH=$PATH:/var/lib/postgres I am confused by the different syntaxes in various references. The real question is how to pass parameter to the kernel at the lilo prompt with S.u.S.E. . I know it is possible with "Red Hat" to pass "linux single" at lilo without special definition in the lilo.conf file. [SuSE Linux] Boot SCSI from IDE disk

Hi All. I have a 5G IDE hd, and 1G Conner HD on AIC 7850 SCSI controller. I've just installed SuSE 5.3 on SCSI disk and lilo on Master boot record with options -- Boot DOS from hda1 and Boot Linux from sda1. On boot I see running "01" string on screen and nothing boots. I can boot installed Linux from installation CD-ROM (start installed system), but how I can boot it by usual way? [SuSE Linux] Problem with sound - opti 924

I have installed Suse 5.3, kernel 2.0.35.I have a sound card opti 924. I installed osslinux 3.91j, and run soundconf that detected generic opti 924 card. But when I call soundon to load the sound module,I have the following message: "Warning: Some of the devices failed to initalize". In fact sound does not work. Can someone help me?, Have someone the same problems ? Your help is really appreciated. Thanks and Regards.
