There's a file (System.map) in the / directory, the kernel has started saying that it doesn't find it ("Can't find map file"). Is this file imperative? What is it for? Who needs it? I have the same problem but I don't use lilo...only loadlin. I have 256mb of ram but linux only sees it as 64mb. How can I make it use the whole lot? [SuSE Linux] starting KDE

I have done the suggested change to startx, exported WINDOWMANAGER and generally tried everything I could think of but I still have to start fvwm2 to get KDE up. (S.u.S.E. 5.3) Literally everything else works great, but this is making me nuts! [SuSE Linux] Editing KDE Menus

Does anyone know if there is a way to configure the KDE menus on the KPanel so that a particular user can only see and access his personal menus, whilst other users can see both their personal and the system default menus? I have given my son access to my Linux box and want to remove the menu items to programs that I don't want to give him access to. I used KmenuEdit to create a personal menu for him, but I can't find a way to remove the system default menu from his display. [SuSE Linux] Closing X

For some time I've had a problem closing X on my system. Whenever I close X (whether from the pulldown menu item "close FVWM2 and X" or with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace), X shuts down, but leaves me with a frozen screen and the messages xinit: connection to X server lost Waiting for X server to shutdown X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown). Xterm: fatal IO error 2 (Broken pipe) or Killclient on X server ":0.0" This happens whether I'm using FVWM2 or FVWM; I haven't tried it with other managers. It only happens with one user, leading me to suspect that the problem is somewhere in that user's home x window configuration. The keyboard is not completely locked--I can switch consoles and login on another console. I'm using SuSE 5.1. Does anyone have a suggestion about where to look for the problem? Thanks.
