[opensuse-marketing] FLISOL in Venezuela

Greetings People! For the ones that doesn''t know me I am the only ambassador currently active here in Venezuela for all the openSUSE related things, spreading the geeko word in every event that I assist as a Security Consultant, and of course using only openSUSE to teach my classes around, so it has been a lot of work, but i just love the our distro... ^_^ Now, to the point: Here in latin america, will be celebrating the FLISOL [1] Festival Latinoamericado de Instalación de Software Libre (Latinamerican Festival of Installation of Free OpenSource Software), and of course Venezuela [2] its already in preparations to join the festival. I'm located in Mérida, and already put my participation with a conference and helping with openSUSE related. The last year we got marketing material to gift in the event, like plushies, stamps, dvd's, live'cds that @tatadbb (Maria 'tatica' Leandro) and I distributed in all the country so all the places get material and openSUSE presence. Now I ask ¿can we get some of these material again? before April. As an ambassador, i gift a lot of that material not only in FLISOL, in all the events that I assist always bring the geeko force with me, but the material of last year its already done, so will be great get new for the FLISOL in this year. [opensuse-marketing] KDE Release Party

Last week in Larissa LinuxTeam hosted a KDE Release Party for 4.6. The event was listed in the KDE promo's wiki page, (link) hosted in the university and there was a presentation about the new technologies and renovations of KDE 4.6 in which a member of the Greek openSUSE community Giorgos Tsiapaliokas was one of the two main speakers, the other was (το ονομα του Gentooa) from Gentoo Greek Community. Of course Ι was there along with Kostas Koudaras and Stathis Agrapidis(another active Greek community member) who came from Thessaloniki in order to attend the speech and spread the word about openSUSE 11.4. We also had set up a booth with stickers, flyers, openSUSE 11.4 Milestone 6 KDE live cds, openSUSE 11.3 dvds, my netbook with openSUSE 11.4 Milestone 6 and some KDE promo material(stickers and badges) from the KDE e.v. which by the way I want to thank them for it because they managed to send me the promo kit on time. We talked about the new technologies of openSUSE 11.4, met new people and had fun. After the event we went in a local tavern with LinuxTeam members, ate local food, drunk some tsipouro (local drink) and continued our talk about communities and Linux in general. coolo just announced that the 11.4 fork is done that means that an RC2 will be issued very soon and be nearly identical to Gold. Linux Pro - Special from 02/2008 Get Started with openSUSE 11.0 Articles would need to be updated/edited, of course - and some added. I still have a couple of copies, as I consider it a very good overview of the openSUSE project - but it is getting dated/old. (I always mention to people the 2008 date, and tell them they have to check the web for current details as development happens so quickly.) 32bit vs 64bit - how to choose might be good addition www dot linuxpromagazine dot com They might well publish another "Special Edition" - free content, and they get to sell advertising. Also, some generic "Linux Foundation" things, like GPL, Kernel development, GNU and "Linux Foundation Events" Perhaps a magazine is so last century, and it could/should be all web published?? Hi all, I hope to catch up to mail today or tomorrow and that means I'll reply to mails on this list :D Moreover, I'm also catching up to news (eg planet.opensuse.org) and saw this one: http://blip.tv/file/4742487 Pretty neath. I knew we had a great testing infrastructure but looking at this, maybe it's time we put it up there with eg Tumbleweed and OBS in the top-cool stuff of openSUSE? A good, readable article about why this openQA is so good and unique would help a lot with that - hint hint ;-)
