Hi all,
Besides the "what's cool in openSUSE" I also worked on the arguments on our
talking page:
http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Talking_points#Why_openSUSE
Have a look, add, fix, comment please!!!
We should actively point our ambassadors to this and our other resources
there! I think it'd be great if, once we are happy with the arguments there,
we create some kind of PDF out of it to give to our ambassadors for easy
reference at conferences.
What'd ya'all think?
Cheers,
Jos
Hello,
I'm seeking for a musical jingle for openSUSE. It's to use with the
video presenting openSUSE, specially at the beginning and the end of
the clip.
The only thing I found that looks like is the music on the "I'm a
geeko" clip (used here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyPx7cmhAjg). Is
that good? do somebody have an original copy? What is the licence?
tube.opensuse.org seems to use CC BY NC SA
we have to manage attribution in video clips (in french "faire un
générique")
thanks

As shown in http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Weekly_news_contribute we
have different possibilities for our Translators to create own
Translations:
* XML Source (You get the Sourcecode and you use it to create any
other Format like Mediawiki)
* XML with using QT Linguist r Lokalize (Then you use the english
Stylesheets. You just translate the *.po Files and after translation it
goes to the English XMLs and we create a native Issue for you)
* Mediawiki: You want to have a Version in the en.o.o Wiki and
translate it from there to any other Format like Mediawiki
* HTML/news.opensuse.org: You use the HTML File to translate
* XML/Docbook: You want to have a own Space with own Stylesheets and
want to publish into HTML or PDF.
The poll is placed there:
https://connect.opensuse.org/pg/polls/read/saigkill/11690/what-is-your-
prefered-input-format
Please vote and help clarifying…

Hi guys and gals,
I just wanted to drop by to share some A4-sized PDF posters that I've
made. They highlight some of the nice things that are part of the
openSUSE experience and are targeting experienced computer users. I'm
not a graphic designer nor a marketer, but I hope that they're useful.
Click the links below to view an online preview of each ad. The
preview doesn't seem to support the Bitstream Vera font, so it's not
entirely accurate. Hopefully the font renders correctly in your PDF
reader. The files are quite large, but I wanted to include
high-quality images so that you can zoom in to at least 300% before
the images start getting blurry.
-- Configure your updater to stick with stable software or update to
newer but less tested versions --
This one plays on the fact that openSUSE offers both "conservative"
repositories that will keep you stable and "progressive" repositories
that keep you up-to-date with the latest releases that may not have
been tested thoroughly.

-- Get help from the active openSUSE community --
Unlike Windows, openSUSE offers a nice official place where people can
go and ask questions about problems they're experiencing. (I'm not
saying that there aren't any good unofficial Windows forums out there
though!)

-- YaST eases the task of configuring your system --
Instead of modifying system configuration files manually, you can use
YaST to save a lot of time.

Received the following mail below. Anyone else who wants to do a presentation
at LinuxTag? They are explicitly asking for volunteer community members
besides the usual suspects like me ;-)
---------- Forwarded Message ----------
<snip>
Unfortunately we did not receive many submissions regarding openSUSE within
our Call for Papers [1]. You should not miss the opportunity to present your
project to our audience of more than 11.500 visitors. Despite the program
committee started the review process we accept late submission till Tuesday,
February 8th.

Please ask them to read through the Call for Papers [1] and submit their
proposals in our virtual Conference Centre (vCC) [2].
In case you have any questions, feel free to contact us at
