Hi all,
Over the break, someone made the suggestion that we might want to
consider setting up a Laconica server for openSUSE members /
contributors.
Any thoughts? I know that many people on the list are already using
Twitter / Identi.ca. We really need to encourage as much blogging /
online activity around openSUSE as possible, and it seems to me that
we *might* be able to encourage openSUSE contributors to do something
under 140 characters where we have trouble convincing them to post
longer blogs.
Thoughts?
Best,
Zonker

Hi @all!
Issue 53 is out and i've some topics and questions for the next meeting to discuss:
Schedule - I think the longer timeframe is good, but we should release (at least en) on monday night. @Zonker, what do you mean ?
- The proposals to release the en newsletter as soon as its ready are good, but what about the language-links then ?
They are messed-up then. We either have to insert links always when finished (and in all languages ... ooch), or create
a page linking to the latest issues for each $LANG.
- Thats not optimal IMHO. I'd rather include as much $LANG in the announcements.
Ready Table - What do you think about this: http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_Weekly_News/Translations/Ready#Issue_54 ?
- It's easy to understand and WYSIWYG even in the wiki.
Full / Light - I liked the Hungarian Template and the Idea of an "light" version - if there's not much time or man-power.
- Thats ok IMHO, we just need to do some polishing and rules to make it equal across languages.
I've also in mind to rework the main template: some graphics as in the "light" template or perhaps some pics.
Lets discuss these now and rule it out on Saturday.
Best regards,
Jan-Simon

That's what I was talking about, the icons, it seems good, what we may adapt are the icons, not the design as it is.

Hi All,
I just would like to inform the Weekly News Team that hopefully I will
work on the Hungarian version of the openSUSE Weekly News (openSUSE
Heti Hírmondó) in the future.
However I do not plan to translate everything from the News (so this
is why I call it Light version).
IMHO if I translate the summarize of the blog entry or the article the
Hungarian readers will wondering why the whole thing is in English
behind it. The 2nd reason: I have not enough time to do that. But I
think this is better than nothing and you will like it too:

Hi @all!
We'll take the statistics out for this issue (no statistics available for last week).
I'll release the issue asap today.

Seeing that not everyone can sometimes translate on time i propose
publishing what is finished with a note that certain translations are
delayed, if we would wait till every translation is finished then we'd
realize that many news we post are old and thus the reason for weekly
news fades. I understand it's harder to maintain it the more
translations we got but we need to have "hard" deadline. So that people
will know that they can expect weekly news on certain date. By the way,
are statistics really so important:) I think just a minority pays
attention to them as they read the weekly news for news and not for
statistics or i might be wrong and some heat while reading them:)
Everything is up to discuss it of course and what i wrote is my personal
thought so no one has to agree with it, what i mean is we need some hard
rules here like everywhere else.
Best Regards

Make everything ready just waiting for the stats.
