It is nice but it's not visually dividing the newsletter into different sections, that's the only drawback for me? It's nice having such icons, looks great if You ask me. Regarding light and full editions, it's no use dividing it as it's not even sometimes possible to translate some articles as they are in some forums where we would have to open an account etc. It is possible to make "counter" articles in our language that are in opensuse.org as it's easily editable and we already have accounts here don't we :)
