[opensuse] Do we know a method to control the number of amavis children?

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, With the spamc/spamd pair we can fix the number of children in standby, and allow the number to grow on demand (--max-children=15). On standby they are only two. But I don't see how to do the same with amavis. The setting is: $max_servers = 2; # num of pre-forked children (2..30 is common) If I change that to, say, 10, I have ten children on standby, full time. Looking at the sample config, /usr/share/doc/packages/amavisd-new-docs/amavisd.conf-default, I see posibilities: # $min_servers = undef; # see Net::Server::Prefork for semantics # $min_spare_servers = undef; # $max_spare_servers = undef; I have tried "min_spare_servers=1", no apparent improvement. I don't see what is the difference between max_servers and min_servers, because the comments do not match the name. My goal is to have as many children as possible during mail download batches (say, 10 or 15), and close to none on standby, because they use ram. The problem is that amavis is slow, mostly because of online tests and time outs. It has to wait. So I increase the number of children (cpu load is low). But this takes ram; 8 GiB is no longer a big ammount. - -- Cheers Carlos E. R. occasionally I receive mail from opensuse+owner(a)opensuse.org reporting bounced mail numbers. I used to be able to retrieve those mails by: opensuse+get#1234(a)opensuse.org (if memory serves) but that seems to no longer work. [opensuse] LEAP How to force a global reinstall of installed packages via zypper?

I have a problem with okular that has to have its solution somewhere in a package to be installed. I tried to install 188 print related packages ex-new, but no result. To be sure no problem in installed packages exist, I would like to force the reinstall of all currently installed packages and (in case) their substitution if they are from a repo not subscribed anymore. How is actually the zypper command to force a reinstall of all installed packages? zypper dup --non-interactive-include-reboot-patches --force ? in zypper -h I did not find indications (not even about --force that I know exists, I am somewhat surprised it is not mentioned). I plan to run this in a separate console (tty1) in order to avoid surprises (as long as you do not advice against). Thanks. --- Alle Postfächer an einem Ort. [opensuse] Thunderbird Crashes on Latest TW Update

After updating to today's snapshot, Thunderbird Crashes on Latest TW Update, 20160621, Thunderbird crashes every single time I open it. I cleared out all of ~/.cache and also created a new Thunderbird profile, to make sure it wasn't something in my existing profile which was corrupted. When I then opened Thunderbird, it didn't crash. When I went to create a new account, I went through the dialogue with entering the IMAP details, password, etc. and as soon as you press OK Thunderbird crashes with an error box that asks you if you want to send an error report. I have gotten a self made problem I am not able to resolve. I post this in factory because: a) this was caused time ago by the use of a obs home scan program that used b) apparently some libs /filters of factory or did set a link ... and now I cannot open pdf since about 6 month. So in the meanwhile it is not life or death because I have TW on the same machine. But: I would like to find out what is the issue and repair it without if possible have to install the whole OS again. When you open in CLI Okular it opens well without documents. When you try to open any pdf it says cannot be opened. [opensuse] docker for windows 10?

I was very surprised to read that windows 10 is gaining docker support: http://mspoweruser.com/docker-windows-public-beta-now-available-download/ I assume that means Windows 10 as the hypervisor equivalent? I haven't done much with docker. Can a kde desktop instance of opensuse function well inside a docker container? [opensuse] Broken app menu after snapper rollback

I had to do snapper rollback recently. It went well apart one issue - application menu in KDE is totally messed up: most of the applications and cathegories are missing and others are in wrong places. I know I can edit it by hand, but I'd rather avoid it (I had no manual entries there and I do have a lot of applications). How can I force the menu to be recreated? Reinstall all packages (from their current repositories - how?)? Delete some settings somewhere in ~? Any other possibility? Although I am running Tumbleweed on my computer I still think that my problem belongs to the opensuse main list. Anyhow, as the traffic is very low on the list I assume that I may present my problem here. I was entering an additional email user to the kmail but at a certain point I got an error message which I did not understand at all. I click it away and after I went to the main kmail page I was presented with only a basic setup. All my emails and folders just vanished. the complete setup such as my filters, toolbar configuration etc are still there and do function. Looked in ./local/share/akonadi_maildir_resource_0 and found all old emails back in the right folders. [opensuse] Playing WMV in VLC

Hello, I have installed VLC from packman and things generally worked fine - until I wanted to play a WMV file, which VLC just can't play. I googled but all I could find was a reference to vlc-codecs, which is installed. Can I get WMV codecs for VLC somehow?
