Hi all, I have been trying to set up an ftp server using vsftpd. I am trying to set it up so that each user has their own ftp folder and when they log in they access only this folder by default. Sounds simple enough, but I have come across two problems: * The $user environment variable does not seem to be recognised by vsftpd (i.e. set the authenticated users folder to /srv/ftp/$user). * vsftpd does not appear to be recognising acls -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner(a)opensuse.org

[opensuse] Opensuse 12.x and enabling core dump when segfault.

Good afternoon, I tried to win with enabling core dump, ulimit is unlimited: :~ # ulimit unlimited This is sysctl output: ~ # sysctl -a | grep kernel.core kernel.core_uses_pid = 1 kernel.core_pattern = /var/log/cores/%e/%p-%s-%t.core kernel.core_pipe_limit = 0 and kernel.suid_dumpable = 2 When I "kill -SEGV <pid>", there is no coredump What did I missed ? 12.3 client joined to AD Hi everyone This is my first battle with systemd so please be patient. It may not be systemd. I'm tired of having to work around this one. The clients need a root ticket on boot. Here's the content of /etc/init.d/boot.local sssd kinit -k -t /etc/krb5.keytab CATRAL$ Here is the content of the service file [Unit] Description=/etc/init.d/boot.local Compatibility After=network.target [Service] Type=oneshot ExecStart=/etc/init.d/boot.local TimeoutSec=0 RemainAfterExit=yes SysVStartPriority=99 This is krb5.conf [libdefaults] default_realm = HH3.SITE dns_lookup_realm = false dns_lookup_kdc = true Debug: - The KDC must be available because sssd gets a ticket and fires up fine which in turn means that the network must be up. - sssd is in /usr/local/sbin which I've added to roots path so the path must be set - DNS is OK. nslookup finds the KDC and in any case, we've already got a ticket for for another process. - If I run the script after boot, I get the ticket just fine. [opensuse] Pairing a bluetooth keyboard?

I'm trying to pair a buetooth keyboard with opeSUSE and am not having much success. Via KDE it stalls out at the PIN query - it never shows the generated PIN from the keyboard. By command line I don't get much further either. Some details: ----------------------------------- hcitool scan Scanning ... 90:7F:61:71:21:ED Acer Iconia W700 Bluetooth Keyboard ----------------------------------- l2ping -c 1 90:7F:61:71:21:ED Ping: 90:7F:61:71:21:ED from 20:16:D8:67:34:9E (data size 44) ... 44 bytes from 90:7F:61:71:21:ED id 0 time 21.26ms 1 sent, 1 received, 0% loss ------------------------------------- So, I can see it and ping it, but when I try to connect to it, I just get either a timeout, or a PIN error message. Finding information on what needs to be done to connect the keyboard is rather scarce to say the least. Does anyone here know what needs to be done to get the keyboard to talk to openSUSE? Preference is for doing it via KDE4, but CLI is good too. I really don't care as long as I can get it working. [opensuse] How to force default outgoing Thunderbird mail account

I have multiple email accounts that I read in Thunderbird using its unified inbox feature. I am working to gradually eliminate a couple of accounts, and would like to force my replies to emails received in my old accounts to be sent using my new preferred account. I know how to set the default outgoing account in Thunderbird for new messages. Is there a way to force the use of a specific outgoing mail account when replying to messages received on different accounts? [opensuse] Laptop is rebooting after Sleep (suspend to ram)

OS: openSUSE KDE 12.3 64-bit. Computer: Toshiba Satellite L500D-163 Graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 (ATI RV710 chip) Hi all, I have installed openSUSE KDE 12.3 64-bit to a Toshiba laptop. Sleep seems to work OK (the Sleep orange LED of laptop is blinking). However, resuming from Sleep, does not work, the monitor remains black for few seconds, during which the Caps lock does not activate, so the system is unresponsive. After these few seconds have passed, the laptop reboots by itself. The hard disk is OK (S.M.A.R.T. settings are OK), and the RAM is OK with memtest86+ tests. Sleep worked OK with *buntu 11.10 32-bit. It also worked OK, with Lubuntu 12.10, until there was a "linux-firmware" package update, after which the laptop had the same behaviour with Sleep. That was one of the reasons I migrated it to openSUSE 12.3. The graphics card is not supported from the main proprietary driver, it uses the free software default one. Any help will be appreciated. [opensuse] 12.3/x86 Thinkpad T60p Firegl Mobility V5200 Backlight issue

I've been using 12.3 on mt Thinkpad and I've noticed an issue with the backlight. If I leave the display on a VT(Virtual Terminal i.e. Ctrl-Alt-F1) instead of in X, if the backlight goes out it won't come back on. I can switch back to X & it still won't come on. However, if I let it sit again long enough(like the first time), then the backlight will come back up ok. If I close the lid to hibernate the laptop & then open it back up the backlight comes on ok as well. Has anyone else noticed this type of issue?
