[opensuse] grub2 for usb-stick

Hi all, Anyone ever tried using the output of yast2-dirinstall and grub2 to turn it into a bootable usb-stick? Before pointing to it: yes i know about kiwi, but some features prevent me from using this (very nice) tool unfortunately. [opensuse] Intel HD 2000/3000 graphics

I have just moved my main openSUSE installation from a large tower case to a Shuttle mini pc with intel on board graphics chip. In the past I have run NVIDIA graphics cards with their proprietary drivers to run two screens : one an LG pc monitor (LGw1952) and a Panasonic tv. I cannot put a graphics card in the Shuttle, as I have an ASUS Xonar STC soundcard and If I install my Geforce video card as well leads to the proximity of the slots they inhabit cutting off the video cards fan. I tried this and shut it off after a couple of minutes of extreme overheating of the graphics card. So I have reverted to the onboard video, which works fine except that the maximum resolution I can get from th LG is 1024x168. Its native resolution is 1440x900 which was achieved with NVIDIA. I am running OS12.2 64bit kde 4.9.5 fully up to date. I also keep a Slackware 64 bit installation on the same box which exhibits the same behaviour. Can anyone point me towards a fix for this please ? Is there a config file I can edit or a driver update somewhere ? [opensuse] stubborn dhcpd on 12.1

I am setting up a new openSUSE 12.1 system, and have configured dhcpd as I always do. For some reason, I am getting the 'no more leases' error: dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 00:0f:31:02:08:59 via eth2: network 10.1.1.0/24: no free leases So, I stopped the daemon, deleted /var/lib/dhcpd/dhcpd.leases, and restarted the daemon. The error persists. I am using the daemon to give out fixed addresses to various devices (e.g., GigE Vision cameras). In this case, the devices have the interface to themselves. So, aside from the interface address itself, only the single fixed address. This is the relevant part of my dhcpd.conf file: option domain-name "rst"; default-lease-time 345600; ddns-update-style none; ignore unknown-clients; subnet 10.1.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 { default-lease-time 345600; } subnet 10.1.2.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 { default-lease-time 345600; } # Change next-server to name of this computer. # Since SUSE 10.3, it seems next-server must be set to the IP address... next-server 10.1.6.29; group { # GigE PAVUE cameras host cameraA { option host-name "cameraA"; fixed-address 10.1.1.10; hardware ethernet 00:0F:31:01:F7:8B; } host cameraB { option host-name "cameraB"; fixed-address 10.1.2.10; hardware ethernet 00:0F:31:02:08:59; } } If either cameraA or cameraB request an address, they get the error message. My env is: System: openSUSE 12.1 (x86_64) KDE: 4.7.2 (4.7.2) "release 5" In Digital Clock Settings->Calendar, Region: Hong Kong SAR(China), Language: Chinese (Hong Kong), Select: Days Off Is it a bug or my settings is wrong? [opensuse] Lost Sound

I haven't had reason to do much with sound so far this year, but yesterday someone sent me a reference to a BBC News article... This was a flash video embedded in a web page. The sound was 'choppy'. I checked out some other sites, Ted, Wired, Brightalk, and the results were the same. I googled and found some Mozilla pages that mentioned this and recommended regressing to Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202. Well that what I was/am running. More googling, looked at re-starting pulseaudio, looked at changing the phonon back-end. All I've succeeded in doing is loosing sound altogether! I can't play recorded music (CDs or MP3s), make recording from my microphone, use Skype, listen to Ted or podcasts. Not that I could when the sound was choppy, but at least I had sound. I looked at how sound was supposed to start under systemd and that just got me more confused. Now I'm hopelessly lost and don't know what to try next. -- The truth of a proposition has nothing to do with its credibility. And vice versa.
