[opensuse] ReiserFS partitions recognized as Ext3. How to recover?

Hi, I have strange problem with my home OpenSUSE 11.0 machine. Machine has dual boot configuration - Win2000 (not used for long time) and OpenSuSE 11.0. HD is Maxtore, 60 GB. The first partition is primary FAT, then I have Extended partition, and inside this I have another FAT partition, then linux swap (/dev/sda6) and 2 reiserfs partitions - / (dev/sda7) and /home (/dev/sda8). Something happened yesterday. One thing was power failure, but I can hardly explain observed behavior by physical problem. The disk was OK, smart monitor never complained. When I turned computer on, the system reported that the sda7 is Ext3 FS, tried to check file system, reported inconsistency and dropped to maintenance mode. sda8 is also recognized as Ext3. In maintenance mode, / looks normal. I can check files and everything is there.Commands and utilities from this disk work. When I manually mount /home - all files are there and look OK. Windows is working OK. Using some rescue tools I was able to copy home directory and all important information from / to different computer (no errors reported while copying files). Now I tried reiserfsck on sda8 and it reported no superblock present. I tried to re-create it and re-check and reiserfsck now complained that there is bad root block and recommended rebuilding tree. But rebuilding tree failed and the message was that I probably moved the beginning of the partition (I did not). How the system recognizes it as Ext3, while it was Reiser? reiserfsck recommented to zero the newly created superblock and to try moving the start of partition and then search for superblock. But I definitely had not changed the partitions... Of course I could go and re-install, but I would prefer to investigate further. [opensuse] RNDIS / WinMo6 / UMTS modem issues

Hi, I'm trying to use a Windows Mobile 6 phone as UMTS modem under openSUSE 11.2. (The same hardware setup works with Windows XP w/o any issues). Once I connect the phone NetworkManager gets the setup done and everything seems to work at this point. I can even ping internet hosts and can establish tcp connections. But once real data should be transferred everything just stops. Below is the log from connecting the device via USB. I don't really have an idea if the issues in the log are connected to the problem. I don't see more interesting information in the logfile when the connection fails. Anyone got something like this working or any idea what's wrong here? Using zypper regularly and like it. One thing I would like to know though. Listmates, Konqueror file manager fails to start in kde 4.3.5 for a normal user when executing 'konqueror --profile filemanagement', but launches just fine for root. All of the Qt libs are from the KDE:/STABLE repository (they are the exact same libraries as in the 43 repositories). The error is: There was an error loading the module Dolphin View. The diagnostics is: Cannot load library /usr/lib64/kde4/dolphinpart.so: (/usr/lib64/libqimageblitz.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN11QVectorData4freeEPS_i) The next time I tried to start it, I chose 'Restore Previous Session' and the window appeared, but the same type error appeared and then konqueror went into kfilereplace mode: http://www.3111skyline.com/download/bugs/kde4/konqeror-start-then-error.jpg http://www.3111skyline.com/download/bugs/kde4/konqeror-start-then-kreplace.… Trying to switch to icon or detailed view would cause the same error. [opensuse] /dev/md0 does not start up at system boot (opensuse 11.2 x86_64)

OS: opensuse 11.2 x86_64 with stock kernel 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop Motherboard: DG45ID CPU: Intel C2Q 8400 HDD1(sda): WD 320GB sataII HDD2 (sdb): Seagate 160GB sata II (a) Using the mdadm tool created /dev/md0 (raid1 /dev/sda5 and /dev/sdb1 both 160GB) - OK (b) Create ext4 filesystem on /dev/md0 - OK (c) Mounted /dev/md0 on /mnt/md0 - OK (d) Added to /etc/fstab: /dev/md0 /mnt/md0 ext4 acl,user_xattr 1 2 (e) Created an updated "initrd" file to include the "md" drivers mkinitrd -f "md lvm2" - OK (e) mdadm --detail --scan > /etc/mdadm.conf - OK (f) Reboot the system and expect to have /dev/md0 mounted on /mnt/md0 - NOK. Boot process is unable to find /dev/md0 and prompts for root pass to fix the error. Upon logging in with root password I find: - /proc/mdstat does not list any active raid device :( - lsmod lists that raid1 module is loaded - mdadm --examine /dev/sda5 /dev/sdb1 shows UUID in /etc/mdadm.conf match with that in sda5 and sdb1 During the repair mode, if do: mdadm --auto-detect Voila, /proc/mdstat shows /dev/md0 with raid1 is active! Removing the /dev/md0 entry from /etc/fstab and booting gives similar result i.e. - /proc/mdstat shows raid not active - lsmod shows raid1 module is loaded - UUID in /etc/mdadm.conf and in /dev/sda5 /dev/sdb1 match - mdadm --auto-detect activates /dev/md0 (sda5 and sdb1) Done some Google search and found the following to be similar to my problem except that it is on Debian and in 2006! <http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=287415> What step(s) am I missing to be able to activate /dev/md0 during system boot and have it mounted via /etc/fstab entry? I have some source documents that are smaller than 8.5 x 11 and I want then to PDF. Is there a way to - automatically - expand the scanned size to 8.5 x 11 ? Example, I have a pamphlet thats 6 x 9 and I want to expand it to fit 8.5 x 11 which would end up 8 x 11. Hi Listmates, I have some questions about grub since I tried to use another partition as rootpartition. I have a separate bootpartition on hd0,2 There are 2 possible rootpartions hd0,4 and hd0,5 (sdb5,sdb6) hd,04 is used.
