[opensuse] tethering no DNS

opensuse 11.1 Problem: since I installed opensuse 11.1 I have problems to connect the laptop using the treo700p 1. The network manager is on. 2. The connection is established OK 3. I can not ping to google.com 4. I can ping to 74.125.95.103 (google.com address) So DNS is not seen. If I disable the network manager and use ifdown ifup then everything is OK. Thas is why I did this post. among others, a curious thing is that I perfectly remember that at the moment LBA was introduced, it was presented as a way to show CHS with fake numbers. I have yet to control this, but ATM most Bioses showed different CHS layout with LBA activated or not, but never shown direct sector numbers. It's only when Linux come than this direct adressing was used and never in partitionning tools. When fdisk advertise the 1024 cylinder barrier, I don't have found PC with this problem for more than 10 years now. [opensuse] Minor Graphic Anomalies After Latest ATI Driver Update?

Hi, Has anyone noticed that since the latest ATI driver update (which came out on Friday and was required to be able to upgrade to the latest Kernel for those with ATI cards using the ATI-supplied proprietary / closed driver) that occassionally portions of windows (title bars, margins, scroll bars are things I've noticed) are drawn in black or a very dark color? Switching virtual desktops or other actions that cause the erroneously color windows to be redrawn usually corrects it, but sometimes it takes a few tries. I installed SUSE but I can't copy any files to the /srv/www/htdocs directory. I have a complete website I want to just drop in there. I tried su cp but that doesn't work. [opensuse] knetworkmanager crash after latest NetworkManager update

Listmates, I have noticed a few knetworkmanager crashes after the March 17 NetworkManager online update. In KDE3, the result is the knetworkmanager systray icon disappearing, but other than that the wireless network remains active and working. The process is running with a nice value of 10, but kcryptd, which I suppose is a kernel module handling the encryption, is running at priority "-5", and sometimes it uses far more cpu - which means that the rest of my user processes are running with lower factual priority than the "background" par2 process. A similar situation occurs when I copy several gigabytes to an encrypted partition: even if the copy runs as "nice", the background kcryptd runs at higher priority than normal, slowing the entire machine. As kcryptd is not a child process of par2, it does not inherit its niceness value, I understand - but it is a real nuisance. Can this situation be changed? Another related question, is whether it would be possible to limit a process to having, say, 20% of the cpu. Ie, I don't care that it takes longer, but at that pace the cpu runs cooler, and the fan slower (and quieter). Anyhow, if I have to leave the computer on for other things, it doesn't matter how long it takes. This question has popped before here, but the answers were not conclusive, as far as I remember. Do we have something? A wild idea would be running the process as child of another, and the parent issuing sigstops/sigconts intermittently. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. [opensuse] WiMax?

Has anyone here tinkered with WiMax in Linux? I am considering a move to somewhere where the main Internet access is 1Mbps WiMax... trying to do all my research ahead of time. I don't know yet which specific hardware the ISPs use yet... working on that. [opensuse] kdiff3 *disappeared* from my konqueror context menu (rt. click) Why??

Listmates, There is another mystery on my 11.0 kde3 x86_64 laptop. kdiff has disappeared from my konqueror context menu when you right-click at text file, bash script, etc... How do I get it back? What made it disappear? It was there two-weeks ago. I didn't remove it or mess with anything. Also why in the hell is kdiff3 now showing it is running as KDE 4.0.4???
