[opensuse] Fooling kernel modules about the version

Hello all, I think I did this a long time ago, however I can not remember what I did. I have a set of kernel modules from 2.6.9 that I want to use on 2.6.16.59. I thought there was a variable I could set that would tell the make to pretend to be this kernel version instead of the actual one. I might be wrong. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about (because it's obvious I don't)... [opensuse] Anyone tried skrooge?

All, I saw skrooge in the weekly status email. Thought I would try it out. It's in packman and I'm already running kde 4.2. Got it installed easy enough, but I don't think it is working yet. And clicking help-skrooge handbook just gets a message that the handbook is not found? Am I missing something obvious? [opensuse] kickstart editor on suse

Hi, is there an editor for kickstart files on suse? I run an install server with suse, which should also server kickstart files. To develop these, it would be need to be able to have the gui for editing them right on the server, versus editing them on a red hat system and then copying them over to the install server. Hi all, I have 2 SCSI disks which were used on an (old) Silicon Graphics running on IRIX 6.5.x I need to recover the data from those disks, dump them somewhere else and forget about the SGI disks... [opensuse] Mouse troubles hosting on Microsoft Virtual Server

Dear all, I have a problem with mouse when running the openSuse 10.2 as a host on MS Virtual Server. Mouse react but it is completely mad. I'm currently accesing the console via MS Virtual Machine Manager. Yast Hardware Information shows mouse as TTPS/ IBM Trackpoint mouse, but if I select it as PS/2 Mouse (Aux-port), it doesn't work. [opensuse] recording video and voice simultaneously?

Dear List, Has anyone ever succeeded in recording video from a webcam (v4l2) AND sound (alsa) simultaneously? This is a thing that should be trivial (in the era of youtube, etc.) but it is not! :( http://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/linux-uvc-devel/2007-October/002242.html I asked ~ 6 months ago in this list how to record video using v4l2 and we came to the following conclusion (thanks to Manne): mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/video0:fps=30 -vo yuv4mpeg:file=paska.mpeg Now I am trying to add sound from an alsa device by: mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/video0:fps=30:forceaudio:alsa:adevice=hw.1,0 -vo yuv4mpeg:file=paska.mpeg -ao pcm:file=test.pcm But it does not work.. [opensuse] nscd-glibc update

I updated my 11.1 last night, and it died as far as connectivity is concerned. Didn't even finish the update. During the install of glibc, something went awry and I could no longer connect. I remember reading something recently about this. Is there a big problem with the update? dig works, host works, nothing else works, i.e. Yast, zypper, browser, Kopete, ping, traceroute, etc. To get it working I needed to downgrade glibc to the versions on the DVD. It got 5 of the 7 packages updated before it died in mid stream. Is there a fix, or something else needed?
