[opensuse] Upgrade off LiveCD?

Have done some searching on this but unable to find the answer. (Why isn't it on the download page...?) Just wondering if it is possible to upgrade off a KDE LiveCD, or will I need to boot off the network and upgrade via the DVD. I also was unaware of a feature using localhost to resolve DNS without a nameserver entry in resolv.conf. That would explain how it worked before, and may mean the enhancement I filed https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=473705 is not needed. It would have been good for a change like that to be documented (maybe it was, but I haven't come across it). To me, having a nameserver in resolv.conf makes more sense than having a hidden feature "allowing things to work" but seemingly being broke (i.e. only a search entry in resolv.conf). [opensuse] KDE 4 Seeing All Items From Each Desktop

I'm using openSUSE 11.1 and switched from using Ubuntu about four months ago and have not looked back! At first I was using Gnome, but switched to KDE 4 and have found it to be a fantastic desktop. openSUSE has made a very easy Linux to use, the package management is a breeze, and YaST might be why I was so drawn in the first place. Anyway, enough of the praises, I was wondering how I turn off the "seeing all items" option where the panel shows all open windows regardless of what desktop they and you are on? [opensuse] Problem with 1-Click-Collection and Compiz

Hello, I just updated my computer to 11.1. I am now face with my first issue with 11.1. I am trying to get compiz install but I keep getting an error that compiz-manager needs python 2.6 or greater, which is strange because I have checked and I have python 2.6.0 { Python 2.6 (r26:66714, Feb 3 2009, 20:49:49) } but yast will not let me install compiz for kde. [opensuse] Problem migrating 2.12 Evolution Data from 10.3 to version 2.24 in 11.1

I decided to take a look at Opensuse 11.1, I did a fresh install of the x86_64 version to a new HD on my Dell Latitude D630. The only problems I encountered with the install, was the installer did not correctly recognize the laptop display so it could not set the correct screen resolution and the mixer sound volume was set so low it made you think sound was not working. Both issues were corrected with the appropriate modules in the Control Center. Once everything was working, my first step in moving from one version of OpenSuse to the latest is to get my Evolution data migrated to the new install. All my attempts to get this to work using the method outlined here, http://www.go-evolution.org/FAQ#How_can_I_transfer_all_my_Evolution_data_be… have failed. When I start Evolution in OpenSuse 11.1 the migration dialog box pops telling me the settings are being migrated to SQLLITE. After about a 30 seconds or so the dialog box closes giving the impression that migration has been completed. Evolution never starts. I have waited as long as 30 minutes but nothing ever happens. Checking the running processes shows the Evolution Data Server is sleeping. Has anyone been able to migrate their Evolution data from the 2.12 version in OpenSuse 10.3 to the 2.24 version under version 11.1? [opensuse] kde4 openoffice drag and drop

In xfce4 I can drag and drop a .jpg from anywhere onto an openoffice document. In kde4 I can't. I have to use the Insert>Picture>from file dialogue which is a pain. Can anyone help? [opensuse] Repository question, for openSUSE 11

For openSUSE 11.0, can the openSUSE 11.1 DVD be added as a repo source ? (the version DVD , e.g. the oS 11.1 DVD is enabled as a repo in oS 11.1) So, that those updates (e.g. for GNOME, KDE 3.5, etc) that are available in the oS 11.1 DVD, can be applied to openSUSE 11 faster & without downloading from online repositories (useful for those with Internet bandwidth limitations). [opensuse] 11.1 opensuse install won't recongnize cpu as x86_64

I've tried the CD version, the DVD version and the Live CD version of 11.1. I've checked all using MD5SUM before and after burning the .iso.file. In all instances I get an error that reads ....This kernel requires and X86_64 CPU but only detected an i686 CPU, unable to boot. I have an MSI K8N Neo4 Main Board,AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+. I'm able to run Opensuse 10.2 and 10.3 X86_64 versions. I've been looking everywhere Google directs me by have found nothing that pertains to my problem.
