[opensuse] static mount points

Hello. I am trying to configure my 11.1 system to mount CDs and DVDs at a static mount point - /media/dvd - instead of the /media/VOLUME_NAME system used by default. I have followed the instructions in the wiki here: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Mounting_to_Static_Mount_Points But that doesn't seem to work in the 11.1 system. Does anyone know how to go about setting this up? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! [opensuse] A New ATI Driver Problem

Hi, I just noticed that my kernel log (/var/log/messages and virtual console 10) are being flooded with messages like this: Feb 9 12:24:18 twain atieventsd[4149]: Too many Event Notification connection errors. Giving up! Searching the Web is not proving fruitful. Has anyone seen this? Does anyone know what it means or might mean? Any idea how to fix it? [opensuse] How to use Bluetooth Headsets like an standard device /dev/xxx

Hi to All. I had setup my Bluetooth Headsets (Neovoice) using the howto found in the opensuse.org wiki I'm using opensuse 11.1 (up to date) The headsets are paired and working. this is my .asoundrc file pcm.!default { type pulse } ctl.!default { type pulse } pcm.btheadset { type bluetooth device "00:0E:16:02:22:4D" profile voice } ctl.btheadset { type bluetooth } if I type the command arecord -D btheadset -f S16_LE | aplay -D btheadset -f S16_LE I can talk and hear myself in the headset, so seems to work fine. But I'm unable to use with applications like Teamspeak because they expect a device like /dev/dsp or similar. I tried also the commands pactl load-module module-alsa-source device=btheadset and pactl load-module module-alsa-sink device=btheadset like suggested in the howtos, but they segfault my pulseaudio and the daemon exists (I have to restart it with /usr/bin/pulseaudio --start) also the headset is not listed as any kind of device with aplay -l or aplay -L Any help is appreciated. Hi all, Config: NO SUSEfirewall2 in use. IPTables are in a script and loaded with "bash rules.sh" I got active FTP going (Ports 20 & 21), but as soon as I logged in on an external FTP server and want to list the directory, I have no response. I have gathered that the problem is with the passice FTP mode it switches to. How do I cater for passive FTP with an IPTABLES command. Because I do not use SUSEfirewall2, the modules ip_conntrack_ftp and ip_nat_ftp does not load it seems. I do not find any trace of them because a with 'modprobe -v ip_conntrack_ftp' or a 'modprobe -v ip_nat_ftp' I get no response or verbose output. With "/sbin/insmod ip_conntrack_ftp" I get: insmod: can't read 'ip_conntrack_ftp': No such file or directory I have done YaST searches on all available repos, rpm searches and oggoled; to no avail. [opensuse] Feeble of brain

Ok. I admit it. I am old and feeble of brain. Can someone please tell me, in simple terms, how BitTorrent is "better" for downloading. I have been trying to download a large file, 11+Gb, using kbittorrent. When it started it showed 8 hrs remaining and a speed of maybe 65Kb down, as I recall. This was over a day ago. Ok, I let it run. 4 hours later it shows 7 hrs to go. Umm, this is progress? Ok, I go to work, return...6 hrs to go. Cheez! Let it run overnight, now shows 20+ hrs to go. I am no math whiz, but I think I am a little smarter than a 5th grader, and I would be willing to bet that this is longer. This does not like progress and I am wondering what either I am doing wrong, or what might be wrong with the system, or it this just how it works and there is some hidden benefit that I am not seeing, like for every hour of download starving children somewhere are fed and clothed. [opensuse] 'Auditing' kernel modules

After upgrading a machine yesterday (h/w swap from socket 939 MB to socket AMD-2), the machine is running fine but I saw some potential kernel module issues when doing the 'repair system' (for some reason, the boot loader would not recognize the boot partition - system repair seems to have fixed it). I suspect a kernel module issue due to Virtual box now throwing disk errors, where previoiusly it would boot just fine. Is there a way to 'Audit' the kernel module configuration? I'd like to verify the current config before further troublshooting. All, OpenSuse 11.1 with factory KDE 4.2 I want to try and work with Beagle. I have the basic default config setup (less running while my laptop is on battery). Sometimes when I'm on the web via firefox I see message at the bottom of the firefox window that beagle is indexing the page I'm looking at. Possible that is only happening with gmail. (I have not paid much attention to which pages are being indexed.) How do I continue to let beagle index my /home directory, but not websites out on the web.
