[opensuse] Slow SMB browsing in gnome and doesn't work in kde4

When I run Nautilus and browse smb shares on a windows server it's very slow. Also, when I try it with dolphin it will pop up two login boxes but will never successfully login. kde dev, When creating/tweaking plasma theme images, which inkscape format are you supposed to use "compressed inkscape .svgz" or "compressed plain .svgz" ? Does it matter? -- David C. I am so happy but once I try to send email (testing the smtp) than I realize that I can't send an email from my email client (KMail). I use this setting on my email client: 1. 'incoming mailserver' == 'outgoing mailserver' == 'mail.mygoogle.com' (pseudonome). Also username and password are all the same between incoming/outgoing mailserver, namely the local userlogin of LINUX. As the username, I put 'ricky' (but not 'ricky(a)mygoogle.com'). 2. smtp authentication: No encryption and plaintext. The error message on my KMail is: " Sending failed: Your SMTP server does not support The server responded: "5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: generic failure". Choose a different authentication method. The server responded: "5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: generic failure" The message will stay in the 'outbox' folder until you either fix the problem (e.g. a broken address) or remove the message from the 'outbox' folder. The following transport was used: mygoogle.com Do you want me to continue sending the remaining messages? [opensuse] New way to thoroughly check for network bottlenecks and simulating a network load

List, For those that dream of a good tool to generate sufficient network I/O for testing routing, etc.. Take one or two of your Linux boxes containing VirtualBox (Linux host/XP or Vista guest) Forward X via ssh from a remote computer at the office that has the XP or Vista guest and then from an xterm type "VirtualBox" then hit the Start button on the VB console. Works great and will provide a sustained load on the internal subnet as the guest (now on your box via ssh) goes through the boot process that appears to be somewhat I/O intensive for the windows guest. 45min and I'm still waiting to get a usable task bar, Best part about the setup -- FREE :p -- David C. I would like to defragment my Windows C:/ drive (main system drive, NTFS-formatted) from within Linux so as to enable moving/defragging in-use & system files as well. Is there a method/ utility that will enable me to do this ?
