[opensuse] Kmail does not show all messages

Using KMail, Version 1.12.2, Using KDE 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) "release 163" Since last week I found that in Kmail sometimes messages in my inbox but also in my suse folder are not shown. Or they only show the header without content. Today I checked my inbox with midnight commander and found that the daily NewYork Times is there although in Kmail it does not show up. From this morning I remember that the yesterday's NYTimes did show up together with some other email from yesterday. So I assume that the NYTimes from today will be readable tomorrow morning. With the Suse box where all incoming suse email is going I found in several cases headers without text. They cannot be erased. Later in the day they get text and can be erased. Get the feeling that there is something amiss with the index for the folders. Come to it, how do I see which is the last attached one if I would have more than one USB storage device? I know my tools, and lsusb ain't one of them if I need to find out the device name for mounting in a rescue system. I stay with my advice -- "dmesg | tail" is the easiest way to find out the device name of a newly plugged in USB storage device in a rescue system. There is no need to get the previous content of /proc/partitions and compare it with the version after plugging in; just calling one command is sufficient. Is there a KDE4.4 One-Click or separate repos? I've been poking around in the Wiki and found info on 4.3.1... which is currently (at least for me) KDE4:Factory. Is KDE4.4 in the Unstable? [opensuse] fresh clean install - but use *old* /home - opinions / howto

Up to and including 11.1-x86-64 I have always installed a new suse version in a clean partition, but I also used a fresh copy of my old /home dir. This appears to cause some sporadic problems to some, i never experienced any myself, but then again I have not used kde4, i am still with 3, my trusty old dinosaur. but that will change in the not too distant future, so i ask: what is the consensus these days on /home? if the recommendation is to start with a fresh /home, how does one transfer things like kmail, addressbook and organizer/contact content and a host of other shtuff accumulated over time? is there a recommended list of transferrables and/or transfer proceedures? how about a "must start from scratch" list? tia d. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help(a)opensuse.org

[opensuse] Windows 98SE can't access Samba openSUSE 11.1

Hello, since I updated from openSUSE 10.3 to 11.1 I cannot acces my samba shares with Windows 98 SE anymore. Windows NT based Systems work as before. Windows prompts for a password, but the valid smb password is rejected. enabling/disabling plain passwords or encrypted passwords on both sides doesn't change anything. No log entries in samba's logfiles. Using samba-3.2.7-11.3.2. Thanks a lot in advance. [opensuse] PCMCIA modem card address

For the moment I have to work with a PCMCIA modem card as my ADSL connection is broken.I expected to have suse 11.1 KDE to automagicaly recognize the inseretd card but although normal pcmcia data cards are recognised at once at insertion, the fax modem card is nor seen.Looked with among others with lspcmcia and can see it is there. Greetings all, Is anyone running ext4 on mdraid yet? I'm anticipating setting up oS11.2 on my server. I've have had good usage of ext3 on mdraid, but would obviously like to move to ext4 on the new release. Thanks for any thoughts.
