[opensuse] Sharing printer on 11.0

Trying to share printers on my local network without any luck so far. port 631 UDP/TCP are open on firewalls, hopefully cupsd.conf allow local network, but cannot see any other printers. Also nmap to 631 to the other machine show it as close. So I fill cupsd is not properly setup, but! Any clue? [opensuse] KDE 4.1: which repo/link to use for install?

Hello, Today I saw the officail KDE announcement for KDE 4.1 beta 2, asking for testers: http://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-4.1-beta2.php I decided I would install this release into a VMWare image and test some things - no harm done if it crashes and burns. The bottom of the annoucement (as usual) lists some OS/Distro vendors (including openSuSE) who have packaged this release for their distro. The open SuSE link points here: http://en.opensuse.org/KDE/KDE4 And I find that page very confusing. Perhaps I am really dense today, but I don't understand the difference between the various repos. We have the following: KDE 4.1.x - Factory 4.1. "for openSuSE 11.1 I ASSUME that means I shouldn't use it on 11.0. 4.1.x unstable - it's not very clear what version of openSuSE those are meant to be used on. 11.0 - "currently the KDE 4.0.4 packages" - I assume that means, the same ones that are on the install media/regular, stable, OOS repo openSUSE Factory - I'm confused about what "Factory" is now. Is it the on-going development tree that has the next version number (11.1)? If so what's the difference between this and the first link? Or is it the same as 11.0 right now? openSUSE 10.3 - I think this is the old version of KDE that came witn 10.3 as a preview? Then further down the links we have again: Build Service Project (KDE 4.0.x) UNSTABLE KDE Project (KDE 4.1.x) KDE 4 UNSTABLE Repository -- Bleeding Edge I appologize for being so stupid, but I am simply not able to understand which of those corresponds to today's 4.1 beta-2 release. The announcement has a direct link to the one-click install for 11.0, which points under the Factory http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openS… I guess that means they packaged 4.1-beta2 for the current "Factory" distro and then forked that tree to make it also compatible with 11.0? [opensuse] List of Community Repositories after live update

I managed to update openSUSE according to this instruction http://blogs.warwick.ac.uk/bweber/entry/upgrading_opensuse_103/ -- everything seems to be working fine, but when I download list of community repositories via YaST (YaST -> Software -> Software repositories -> Add -> Community Repositories) all are for openSUSE 10.3. How can I make YaST download list for openSUSE 11? [opensuse] openSUSE 10.3 -> 11.0 upgrade issues

Hi All, I was to lazy to do a fresh install (i should have learnt my leasson by now that upgrades never seem to work as planned) 1. As "root" i can set my screen resolution for 1028*768 quite happily but as an ordinary user is always resets back to 1024*768. Sax2 runs ok, allows me to select what i want but when XFine runs the test screen it shows the selection incorrectly as 1024*768. The test screen image does appear to have changed to my 1280 selection because of the size of the mouse pointer. I save it ok and exit Yast2 but the screen res is still 1024 even after a logout/login. When logged out the screen res seems to be the one i want (1280*768) but as soon as KDE(3.5.9) loads it resets it back to 1024*768. Anyone have any ideas why this doesn't work while logged in as a user but using Yast2 as "su"? 2. openSUSE updater - as "root" it works fine but as an ordinary user it doesn;t have access to any backends and fails. Do i need to config it somewhere to allow a user to run the Updater? Hi, will this also apply for mp3 and streams? Because amaroK comes with an odd engine this time (or at least it's the first time I see it) and it won't reproduce these formats...
