Hi all Yesterday I was trying to update my Suse 9.3 to openSuse 10.2 installation with a DVD burned image. Just after clicked on "update" (but it happens also when clicking on "installation") I got the following error: "Error occurred while creating the catalog. cd://?devices=/dev/hdc,/dev/hdd Unknown error: unable to copy media directory to /var/tmp/TmpDir.j4jPSa/MEDIA" After 2 dvds burned, I found this: http://www.suseforums.net/index.php?showtopic=27392 but I was anyway unable to get a succesful installation with a 3rd DVD burned at 2X. [opensuse] irqpoll, ATI Xpress 200, SB600 and ethernet...

Hi everyone! Does anybody know what the irqpoll boot option does. The only way to get my sata disk recognized in a ATI Xpress 200 chipset with an SB600 was to pass this boot option to the installer's grub. However, I get my system log constantly flooded with: unexpected IRQ trap at vector a0 irq 160, desc: c0396e00, depth: 1, count: 0, unhandled: 0 >handle_irq(): c0145fea, handle_bad_irq+0x0/0x1f2 >chip(): c0344580, 0xc0344580 >action(): 00000000 IRQDISABLED set IRQPENDING set And, as if this wasn't enough, my ethernet card isn't recognized. Does anyone have any hint about how to get past this. I have a few development machines in our university waiting to be installed because of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. [opensuse] autoyast ... can the xml file be used with just a simple dvd install?

I've looked over the basics of autoyast ...and it seems as though for a "one off" situation (a single, or only a few, repeated installations) that it is over-kill. However, I see that at the end of an install, you can select to have the autoyast xml file created. Can I just save that file, and then, when starting a new install, somehow reference it so that the install proceeds from the DVD without needing my intervention? I don't see this mentioned anywhere, but it seems like it would be a "no brainer". Via that free peeckaboo MS gave some of their most favoured customers and "partners" remember ? That flap over someone mistakenly published some of the code on the web?? If such a company had become lets say disenchanted w/ the wait looooong promised features in Vista being dropped etc... they have a relationship w/ Novell for it's non Linux products, probably from long ago.. Now, they think they might try what somebody at Novell has been telling them, linux... first only as servers, which don't fail and don't get worms and don't do anything accept sit in their corner and work.. So they put a small test project in place to see how much trouble it would be to switch at least some of their desktops over... and well , people just will talk.. if someone at the company happens to know about the code peak they were given and begins talking to linuxers about the different way it works. they could just mention the slipshod code they saw in the code they saw... [opensuse] Keyboard Repeat Rate

How do I increase the keyboard repeat rate? It is currently set at 50.0/s and that is the maximum Yast allows me to go. Can I increase it further? If yes, how? If no, is there a script that I can run on startup which sort of links the mouse to a hotkey or something? For instance, I had this AutoHotkey script in my Windows version which really increased my hotkey repeat rate. It was: F8:: MouseClick, Left Just that and the hotkey just fired up. Hi, Can anybody point me to a paper or give me some directions, how to configure a login and mounting of ones home directory coming from a Novell server? Would it be possible to identify and authentify with Novell's eDirectory (V8.7.3) and then log-in directly into one's home coming from a Novell NetWare server (V6.5)?
