[opensuse] Reverting to xorg 7.1

Is there away to revert back to 7.1 from 7.2? From my reading about, the latest ati drivers for the x1300 does not support xorg 7.2. I tried to install the drivers from ATI and it gave the error that it doesn't support SuSe, which is kinda strange seeing that 10.2 is listed in the package itself. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I followed the instructions on the How-To page on the SuSe website. [opensuse] YOU Kernel Updates - 2.6.18.2-34, require 2.6.21

Hi, I'm happily running on the kernel from the 10.2 installation DVD, however it doesn't support the Super-I/O chip (Winbond W83627DHG) on my motherboard (ASUS P5B) to allow lm_sensors 2.10.2 to monitor my hardware temps, fan speeds, voltages etc. The nice people on the lm_sensors list recommended I patch the particular driver in my kernel source directory, but patch complains about a few things then of course I can't compile. Should this procedure not work, lm_sensors advise updating my kernel; reading up on this driver I find it will be supported natively in kernel 2.6.21. I'm a bit reluctant to manually update my current kernel as I can't find any clear documentation on distribution kernels - only 'vanilla' kernels from documentation at kernel.org etc. So, my question is when could I expect to see a kernel update to 2.6.21 or later available via Yast2 Online Update or ZMD ? And secondly, which installation source(s) should I have present to allow new kernel packages to be visible ? I am trying to add this using Yast2 and for the life of me I can not figure out how to. :-( I'm following the example on this website which is: =========== Hello balteo At first you must Install some lib's then it will work fine Open the YaST Mangager = Software = Installation source = and ADD = Http Server = ftp.skynet.be Location = pub/packman/suse/10.1/ =========== Now granted it will be 10.2 but I thought I would follow the example to see if I can get it to add it. Well, even using the above example doesn't seem to work, nor does using the exact link address on the website, which I thought should work. Even tried switching between http and ftp, but it's a no go. I know the answer is probably so simple.... [opensuse] livemeeting and SIP client support for linux

Hello All, Is there any way you know of to get MS livemeeting support inside of linux? I have found nothing so far and I am afraid I will need some type of vmware running just for livemeeting :( Also, anything that works with the MS enterprise chat client that is SIP based? I have always used GAIM on linux but do not see anything there, which is a bad sign for me. As always, all help and advice is greatly appreciated. Hello Family, I have a triple booted laptop using the "same" Linksys USB wirelss model WUSB54g-v4 I have standard DSL and every other box on my network runs fast. The laptop's operating system(s) and wireless speed checks in at: ######################################################## (A) SuSE-10.2 552-kbps (downhill) 226-kbps (uphill) (B) FreeBSD-6.2 1330-kbps (downhill) 334-kbps (uphill) (C) Windows-2000 1240-kbps (downhill) 312-kbps (uphill) ######################################################## Has anybody else had any luck getting this USB wireless device to go faster? [opensuse] PCI card order on boot

Another oddity, since upgrade from 9.3 to 10.2... I have 3 video cards...(2) 4-port cards for camera system (zoneminder security system) and (1) pcHDTV 3000 tuner. It was never a problem with 9.3, but now they will swap order on reboot randomly. ie sometimes the tuner will be video0 and other times it will be video2. Likewise, the 4-port cards will swap their assignments, which causes loss of the security system. I guess I'll have to bone up on HAL and UDEV, but in the mean time, anyone have any suggestions how to lock the cards down sanely on the pci bus? Thanks! [opensuse] LILO/Grub Problem

Hello SUSE people. Just installed 10.2 on a brand new hard drive. Installed just fine. Already was booting to Win98 and SUSE 10.0, each on their own hard drives My 10.0 is my normal everyday system and 10.2 was to be my experimenting/test bed. I was using LILO to boot Win 98 and SuSE 10.0 on the MBR of hda. (the win98 drive) When I installed 10.2 I let it use Grub which also installed on hda, thinking it would pick up 10.0 and if not I would be able to add it. No good. I can boot Win98 and my new 10.2 but not my old 10.0. Not in the menu. Can't even boot it from the DVD. Of course all of my tips and procedures I have gleaned from this list are safely tucked away in 10.0 that I can't get at. Hope someone is kind enough to point me in the right direction so that I can boot 10.0 again. [opensuse] OpenSUSE 10.2 xfce desktop icons: single click possible?

Hi, I am using more and more the XFCE desktop as an alternative to the imho. sometimes bloated KDE or Gnome Desktops. However, I dislike that I need to doubleclick on a XFCE desktop icon in order to activate it. From KDE I am used to single click and even on windows I always configure the desktop to work on single click. Is there a possibility to do this with a simple and intuitive singleclick in XFCE? How can I do it? I searched google with "+xfce +desktop icon +single click", searched the xfce mailing list and tried with mouse settings and desktop settings from the xfce menu/Settings, anything to no avail. [opensuse] Keyboard issue, terminology special characters

I am needing some of those special characters not on the keyboad by default. I need the degree one the most often. I figured it's in keyboard layout (Suse 10.0 here), but am not finding both the map, and how to activate it. I need to be able to type degrees and other characters online and in things like the word processor, etc, so I am sure there is a way to do it, I am just falling down, due to a lack of the correct search terms. Can someone give me a point in the correct direction?
